Offset license plate bracket acquired... sort of

Postby mOOsE » Fri Mar 11, 2011 9:14

Finally did it. I traded my beloved MS3 in last night.

Picked up a 2010 Evo X SE in Wicked White

Can't fault my MS3 at all, and was even sad to see her go.

Here's a quick picture. More to come

I had the Hypertech in my MS3 and can safely say that the Evo is still faster... I was really surprised at how it felt given the weight. The SST keeps boost going until you let off though, so perhaps that's part of it.

I plan on staying on the board. I like CMZC, despite not being at any of the meets. Met a few of you and certainly enjoy the drama ;) hehe.

Don't feel like you have to answer, but would you mind telling us what you got for trade in value and what you paid out the door for that? I know a lot of us want to go AWD everytime it snows.

White is definitely the best color for the Evo X. I see the wing has been removed. Any other mods already on it? That could be why it's faster than your MS3. Or did you only have the Hypertech and no other mods?

Edit - nm I see in your sig you just had a CAI.

Holy hot! Dude yes! Congrats! Also loving the wingless and that white is just awesome!

Not to start the STi vs. Evo thing, but did you look into an STi?

It's actually bone stock. I bought it new last night. It is a 2010 EVO SE. It is basically a GSR, but with the MR suspension bits, SST Tranny, and trunk lip instead of wing. I did not look into the STi as I don't care for the new body style, nor the interior. I also read many reviews on the performance-only aspect between the two and the EVO comes out on top every time. but aside from performance, I always loved the EVO X models, they are a very aggressive looking car. White was my favorite as well so I really got lucky to get one at the deal I did. MSRP is 36k for a base SE. Invoice is 34K. I got mine for 30,500 before my trade. I also got 16,500 for my trade (ms3 sport, 29K miles), although I had a balance. I haggled for over a week and feel I got a good deal overall. The SST is sluggish off the line, but if you know the super-secret button code that unlocks s-sport mode, it is quite fun to launch off the line and shifts are one of the most amazing experiences in a car for me thus far. I really can't believe this vehicle's days are limited.

Oh nice, I didn't even know they made one that came wingless from the factory. Sounds like they hooked you up on your trade big time. I got 17,500 for my 09 with 22k miles and felt like I got a great deal, so for more miles and a year (half year?) older to only drop 1k is pretty good. Also sounds like you got a great deal on the Evo. Feels good to upgrade and also feel like you came out the deal on top as well.

Being that it's sat on the lot for over a year, how many test drive miles were on it? The SST has the paddle shifters right? Does it also have a full auto mode for when you're feeling lazy?

They didn't actually have it for that long, only a month maybe. It does have a full on lazy mode. The SST operates in 3 "modes" for automatic/drive mode.
Normal, which shifting is soft and early at around 3K rpm. Little to no rev matching is done when it downshifts.
Sport Mode shifts a bit later in the RPM and also rev-matches when it downshifts...along with sharper shifting.
S-Sport mode is where it all hangs out: 6000rpm shifts under light throttle, immediate, sharp-shifting, and pronounced rev-matching on down shifting.

If you floor it in any gear, it revs to red-line before shifting, but the level of sharpness of the shifts still remains in-tact for whichever mode you are under.

And of course, during any of the above, you can chose to manually shift it completely. Which is nice, because you can do s-sport mode for crisp shifts, but still shift early and at low RPM like a manual would be.

S-Sport also unleashes the launch control, which is fun as hell with AWD 5500RPM launching... no drama, just traction and GO.

I drove to work under Normal in Auto this morning, and drove home in s-sport using Manual... I can see this becoming my daily routing. It's just awesome.

I want to launch at 5500rpm with traction :( So far if I try to launch at any rpm higher than 2000rpm I don't have traction lol, but it has been cold temps when I've been trying these launches so hopefully it hooks better as it warms up.

Good looking car, the white looks sweet. Sorry to see the MS3 go...
