I'll see speedjunkie's offer and raise another $5 for a total of ten!

How about $100? That's about all I got :p

It's a tough market, for sure. I'm not sure how much Tim (Fincky7) sold his car for, but I'm sure he sold it for well less than it was worth in a real market. That said, I think (and the general consensus is) FD's will start to rebound and come up in value within a few years. We just have to ride out this tough period.

The way I look at it, FD's have basically hit rock bottom (it also doesn't help we're in Colorado, not exactly a hot-bed for RX-7 enthusiasts) and they're not going down much, they are staying steady at their current value. Hell, a 2004 RX-8 that sold brand new for $30k just 8 years ago is now LESS than most FD's!

It also wouldn't be too expensive to turn this into a "race car". A lot of people have the misconception to be a race car you have to have 1 million horsepower and a sequential Hewland gearbox- not the case. There are plenty of racing series/classes that allow to race a relatively stock car, and the FD can VERY competitive in these series, especially with it's factory sequential twins.

I'm not sure what class (maybe avid Auto-X'ers can chime in here) but there is an SCCA Auto-X class the FD does very very well in and FD's have won in Nationals in this class multiple times.

It's just the economy man. It's a bad time to sell a car. Especially a highly impractical sports car lol.

Yeah, economy isn't great, and FDs are at an all-time low. I expected to get more interest on rx7club, but so far it's just been a kid who asked me how much I wanted for it and to email him pictures (even though both were posted in the thread), and a guy in TN whose friend might want to trade his S2000 for an FD (lol). Then I had a guy in Nebraska offer me $6000 for it :(

Making it into a race car would be pretty expensive. I'd have to rent a spot to work on it for one thing. Then the safety gear alone (cage, seat, harness, window nets, etc.) would be around $3000. But comparatively speaking, that's still less than if I were to make it a nice street car (i.e. fix the a/c and heat, make it pass emissions, and paint the entire car). If it doesn't sell within a month or so I think I will start working towards stripping it / parting it and making it my new track car. That would be the hardest part...going through the entire car and making sure everything would hold up to the abuse I'd be putting it through on track.

There are plenty of classes to race a relatively stock FD in, BUT not many of those classes have cars that would be equally prepped, so I probably wouldn't have many cars to race with. On the other hand, racing an FD would be SWEET. When I raced in 944-spec, it was fun, but limited. Racing the FD would be much more personal...it'd feel more like "my" car.

Hey I know this is my first post, but consider me a potential buyer! Sounds like it needs a little help. I certainly have the enthusiasm to learn what it takes.

Any help from new friends getting this going great would be a huge selling point and big favor!

I have lots of questions... Please send me your email and / or phone number. I live in Denver and could come by this weekend.

Dillon, did you give him the parts I gave you? Maybe I can get my airpump back. LOL!!! Not that I'm going to use it or anything, but if I ever choose to go back to stock...nah. LOL

Congrats turboholic! Hit me up!

Congrats on the purchase, and glad to see it's staying in the club!

No V8s in this one though!
