Broken Arrow, need a new engine

Postby wyosaint » Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:14

Car is stuck just out side of Guernsey Wyoming....just paid 375 for 60k inspection on thursday and the car clunked out this morning....
I'm scrambling to get a car trailer to get back to cheyenne.
Anyone have any advice for an engine rebuild?

Blew a rod? You either bent one or broke one. Know which it is?

Might be cheaper to buy a new motor than to rebuild this one. Mazdaspeedforums has a bunch of threads on this. From what I've read, there's probably damage to the cylinders, and there may be a hole in the block if the motor really blew. Have all that checked before you decide to rebuild.

There is a dude on Mazdaspeedforums.com who has three DISI 2.3 blocks for sale...

Figures you'd be just out of warranty, not that you aren't modded beyond warranty anyway. Bummer. Let me know if I can do anything to help. If you need Denver based parts, I'm happy to get them at least part way to you.

Like stealth said, check out mazdaspeedforums.org. There's TONS of build threads over there plus a guy selling 3 mzr disi long blocks. Might as well build it right this time and go with forged internals. But really sorry to hear tho, that sucks balls :(:(:(

The more I read on it, the more I think the DISI 2.3L is just a weak engine. These things blow STOCK sometimes. Even on CX-7s. Lame.

If you can get a full long block for 2k jump on that man. That is pretty cheap. Though honestly if I blow I wouldn't just stick another 60k miles stock engine in there unless I was just doing it to trade the car in. If I was going to keep it I'd build the motor while it was out of the car, otherwise you're just going to be making another thread like this a year from now lol. The stock rods suck.

Yeah, 2K is a great price. Jump on that. But I agree with Erod...build that motor!
