Be prepared for those hangers. Let all your frustration out on them. I hope you're not doing this on the ground.

I'm planning on doing it at Ft. Carson's Auto shop. Not quite sure when this week yet. It'll most likely be towards the end of the week.

Exhaust hangers aren't that bad. Spray them liberally with WD40. Get a long skinny small-headed flathead screwdriver. Jam that in the hole opposite the side they come off. Pry that sucker off of there with the screwdriver. Unless they are old and brittle, you won't damage the hangers at all and they'll pop right off.

I've done my own exhaust on jackstands several times on several cars and catbacks are really really easy even on the ground. Only problem is sometimes getting the stock exhaust off if it's all one piece and goes up and over the rear axle. So you might need a sawzall for that to cut the stock catback off. Looking at that diagram though it looks like the main pipe disconnects from the muffler section so you should be able to get it off without cutting anything.

Yeah, for exhaust hangers just spray them with some soapy water and tug. It's not bad at all.

The biggest pain can be the spring-tensioned bolts that connect the catback to the midpipe. Don't loose the springs!

+1. Those bolts were the biggest pain in the *** on the catback install on my MS3 too.

Well the final results are in.

First off, that pipe sure as hell doesnt seperate from the muffler drum :-). Looking at mine its got a rivet in it so it should be a simple 1/4 turn and pull, or so it would seem. Looking to the other side theres a bracket for the exhaust clamp thats riveted thru the pipe.

Other than that, the swap was a breeze... aside from the hangers. A simple pry bar and a lot of WD-40 worked wonders tho. Thanks for the help guys. I took a bunch of pictures so i might throw together a DIY file.

Next up, High Flow Cat.
