Front License plate!!! Illegal to not have one on?

It's illegal, I've gotten 2 tickets for it while parked... At the least, if you don't mount it, just put it on your front windsheild if you park anywhere like downtown...

The only problem I've had is with parking NAZIS. Most will always write you up. I say $20 big woop. Mine is displayed on the Passanger side of the Windsheild so some have claimed to not have seen it. (The aparking Nazis I've confronted) I've had like 3 tickets for it in 6 yrs and well that's $60 to make my car more perfect. Corvettes don't require one so why should we?

Of the 15 or so times I've either been pulled over for nothing or in an accident the officers have mostly commented that it doesn't bother them but the law states it should be mounted on the bumper. A few have said they don't even bother and know many officers who don't either. It's only the parking Nazis that give you the tickets.

An officer will most likely use it as an excuse to pull you over just to see who you are and what your up to but won't ticket you for it. Unless they find some warrant or something else.

You must have a front plate in CO. so instead of drilling, get some MIGHTY PUTTY and attach it off to one side.

I have a front plate on my MS3 but I didn't have one on my lancer or Civic in the past, got pulled over probably 15 times for it, never got a ticket. Also was never able to find that the law specified that it had to be on the bumper, which is probably why warnings are given as I had my front plate in the windshield.

I ran my Speed 6 for 2+ years with no front plate. Never got pulled over for it. It is required, but it's what I'd call an acceptable risk. Let that IC get some air!!!

Wait, if corvettes dont require one then why do other vehicles?? I read the licence plate law and it said any regular vehicle must have one on the front and back. I honestly think that front plate is a waste of metal and space.

Agreed. However some people are prone to crappy luck more than others. The kind of crappiness that.... has you be the guy who gets that random rock come flying out of nowhere, cracking your windshield in the first week of ownership, who gets door-dinged when you park on the outskirts of the lots (while 70% of others are dent free and never worry about parking locations), who gets a parking ticket literally one minute after the meter expires, and the same who gets a flat tire when its butt cold outside, etc. etc.

Speaking of crappiness---- I go to Discount a few weeks ago for a tire repair (due to a screw sticking right in the middle of my front tire). I tell them to go ahead and rotate them while they're at it. I look down a few days ago and notice the same "screw tire" is now located on the rear. They simply rotated my tires (after waiting an hour when they said there was no wait), rather than doing the repair, which is what required the visit in the first place

you've had some back luck tut....what do you mean they never repaired your screwed tire? Are you saying the damn thing leaks like a sieve?

By law yes. But I have never seen one with a plate mounted on the front. The state could save 50% in plate costs if they change the law to 1 plate.

Indeed I am, the screw still remains and so does my front license plate. No leaking though... just daunting knowing that I have a screw sticking in there-

I would say that a majority of Corvettes probably come shipped without a bracket, obviously no holes in the bumper, and no particular request or desire from the owner, to have one. But this is the case with most higher-end rides. Heck, every car I've ever bought new, I specifically made this request just to be sure.

Eitherway, as enthusiasts will sometimes do - and not being a desired look in performance car realms - we're definitely apt to bend the rules more than most. The requirement is the requirement regardless.

Keep your eyes peeled though... Front plates on Vette's aren't that uncommon. You'll probably see one tomorrow.

Of course Corvettes require a front plate. The front bumper has a removable panel with the word 'Corvette' on it for owners who choose to mount a plate.

And I disagree with the comment about the state saving money going to 1 plate. The state doesn't pay for the plates, we do.

LOL, I wouldn't be surprised if they began requiring three plates. That way they could justify their wasteful-retarded projects/budgets and keep over-spending, in order to continue making the state of the economy look more palatable to the public.
