I hope that STi driver is shittin bricks right now. I hope he gets caught and justice served. There should be some kind of criminal charge brought on him. Both drivers should have the licenses yanked for a long, long, time.

You might have to be a member to read the thread but here ya go.

I didn't know you were on CHPJ! I'm a mod over there. That's where I originally heard about this. I hope you're right about them catching that little prick in the STI.

I'm looking at the law enforcement side, if that car is back on the street, so another driver....

Just because the car was used in street racing activity before doesn't mean a new owner with illegally race it.

If that were the case then the government wouldn't even let manufactures sell fast cars, LOL.

To crush the car would cost money the state and ultimately us tax payers have to pay for- selling it at auction would put money back into the budget. I'm game for that.

+1, or donate the car to a vo-tech school or something...anything that' won't cost us more. I can understand getting it off the street, but there are better alternatives to spending money to crush it.

 Don't troll me for jumping down that DB's throat please! Yeah, i'm a member, don't participate much. They have so much info on that guy in the STI, if they don't find him, it'll be ridiculous. Unless his punkass fled the country or something, he should have been found by now. Somewhere in that thread it says he could be facing attempted murder charges I believe?

At least part out the cart and sell everything on it. Crushing cars is so wrong unless they're junkers that aren't classics and can't be saved. And heck if they sell or auction it they should consider that it should only be sold to a more mature person.

I really do hope they find the guy. I'm curious as to what the status is on all this now.

Wasnt that a law that passed in colorado tho? if you get caught street racing, the state crushes the car? I swear I heard that on the news

Anyway, yes I do agree to use the car for money, but it takes to pay someone to do research and actually sell the car. so i'm sure its countered for the state to resort to cheaper alternatives. just sayin

But the government already auctions siezed vehicles, Why should this be different? I say take the vehicle away from him and send it to auction.

I know California crushes cars, so does Arizona, New Mexico, and one other state I forget on the east coast (I think it's Maryland), for street racing violations. I'm not aware of Colorado crushing cars but I did just move here, haha.

Arizona's car crushing laws are pretty stupid, IMO. I knew of a guy with an Evo that got busted street racing (while doing 130+ mph on the 101 highway, btw, racing a crotch rocket that left the scene). He was arrested, car impounded. He went down to the impound yard and somehow was allowed in the yard, able to pick off most of the aftermarket parts on his Evo, and sell them before the car was crushed, LOL.

I'm all in favor of people who are stupid enough to race on the street of getting their cars crush- hell, I would make them watch it getting crushed. But what if the person wasn't actually street racing and just speeding? It's too subjective and all up to Police interpretation. Granted, most street racing cases are pretty cut and dry, but I would worry some semi-innocent people would loose their car.

I had a friend who got a street racing ticket for passing another car. He was in his Mazdaspeed3 and was passing this riced out Integra with loud ass exhaust. He was speeding but trying to get into the Integra's lane to make a turn, so he passed him. The cop saw the two cars, both fitting a "street racer profile" perhaps, and pulled both over.

He eventually got the ticket reduced to speeding, but that would have blown if he got his car crushed when he wasn't actually street racing.

Ha. Something similar had happened to me. I was driving on Colfax during rush hour. Some guy in a convertiible eclipse (3rd Gen) decides to cut 2 people off and do a fly by on me. The cop pulls both of us over and gives me a ticket cause it sounded like I was racing. Car was completely stock then and I had the exhaust done mebe 2 weeks prior. As he passed me I was gettting back up to speed after this old lady made a slow ass lane change to the center lane to make a left hand turn. Speed limit was 35 I was going 40. Cop said he was going 60 to catch up. Well der.. you have to go faster to catch up. The other guy was already 3 or so blocks ahead of me when the cop was behind me.
