1951 Ford Pickup w/ original flathead V8

I couldn't resist when this pulled up next door on a trailer yesterday. Long story of how it ended up in front of my house but I picked it up pretty cheap and I'm going to do my best to get it restored, or at the very least, running again. Battery is dead but it would try to turn over off a roll. I'm going to give it some new oil, plugs, coolant, tranny fluid, and flush the old gas out and see if that will get it started....cross your fingers for me.

Anyone know anything about these engines that would want to lend a hand or point me to another local forum as a resource would offiicially RULE.

pretty much everything brother...I've never seen one in my life. I'm going to buy the shop manuals to get started on it. I'm just trying to get it running right now. Let me know if you'd want to help for an exchange

I know some about flatheads....mainly seeing my grandpap rebuilding them and working on old Harley Davidson pan heads.

It's basically a GIANT lower mower engine. Valves are on the side (not overhead). And they hate to rev high.

Actually, my girlfriend's grandfather rebuilds tractors with a lot of flatheads, so he knows a lot. I'm sure he would love to help if you're interested.

Thanks for the offers guys. I'll see what I can do right out of the gate and will solicit you for some help if it's not too much to ask. I imagine it's going to be tricky considering your in the Springs and chickenwafer is in Loveland...

Hey wafer, where is your grandfather located? In Loveland as well?

No he's actually in Scottsbluff, NE. I'm sure he would have no problem coming down or something- he really likes helping with stuff (almost too much!).
