I went to MAC Autosport yesterday afternoon to get an updated baseline dyno done with the cobb AP and FMIC. I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the power I am now making and with the control that the AP has on the AFR ratios.

Max Torque: 327 ft*lbs
I have a datalog for the run as well, but I forgot to download it before I lent the AP to Rich, hopefully I'll get that log from Rich soon and I'll post it up here as well.
The first run was a baseline from 2007. My only mod at the time was a CAI.

I was just going to ask you how it was going for you, I am still up in the air about what way I would like to go....Those are pretty solid numbers for the stock turbo.........Can't wait to hear Rich's impressions, since he has been using the Standback:)

Data log sent, Patrick. Very nice numbers for a generic tune....I'm sure you can get another 20+ HP from a dyno tune and perhaps water/meth to keep your BATs low.
As for the dyno I ran afterwards, I ran on ECU only and put down 244/295. For some reason I could only hit 14 psi on the dyno, while I can hold 15+ psi on the street with spikes to 17+. It could be that MACs dyno isn't load bearing, but I'm not sure. I'm going back next Friday for a comparison dyno with the AP installed.

The AP is one of the best mods that I got for my 8! Its good that you have a local shop that can tune your MS6 with the AP. I read on the COBB forums that they were going to discontinue any new products for the mazdaspeed crowd, due to people whinning and crying about customer support.
I just took a look at the datalog for the dyno and there was something wrong with the datalog and the data was not from the dyno. I must have been running a datalog at some point and forgot to stop or something stupid like that.
As far as the boost I was running, without the datalog I have no idea what the actual boost was. The most I have seen on the street with the AP tune was 16.8. When Rich checked the max PSI my gauge hit during the run it was 14.1 PSI, but my gauge wasn't properly calibrated at all. There is definitely more power to be gained from the stocker with a proper dyno tune.
Cobb will release the acesstuner Race beta on April 20th. It will be free as a beta version, so I would suggest anyone who is even thinking about the AP goes and downloads it.

I don't know either. I watch the BAT's, AFR, and LTFT. I never got any knock retard under any conditions. But that changes with each car.

I couldn't tell you. These cars are so different from one to another. It also depends on the map and the ltft's probably are still settling as well.

I wish you would have let me know you were going to be at MAC, I was actually JUST there on Saturday lol. Stock turbo on E85:

^^^It sucks, my WDC's are pretty much maxed out, I can't run anymore boost with my OEM BCS (at least not without a smaller restrictor pill)
I had Nick tune the car via OpenECU (selling my Accessport), and he was trying to target 20-21psi, but we couldn't hit over 19psi
To lower my WDC's and run more boost, I'll likely end up running a 3-port BCS (Prodrive, Perrin ect), and get the car retuned, as Nick assured me the 1-2psi increase in boost we'll be able to run should make an additional ~15whp or so.
Are you going to have Nick or someone else Protune your car when the software is released?

Brandon, do you find it a problem that MACs dyno is not load bearing? I think it may have a negative effect on producing enough engine load to hit target boost, but I'm unsure. I was only hitting 14 psi w/ on ECU only, yet on the road I can hold 15+ with spikes to 17+.

I will play around with the beta, but I am going to wait until the full release for my actual tune. It isn't worth the risk for the beta software.

Yeah might as well wait to tune the car until you have a full TBE, should help hold boost up top a bit better, but more importantly drop your EGT's considerably. I'm actually curious to see how your AFR's look when you decide to crank up the boost. Do you have an upgraded fuel pump?
When I was at your power levels on my old Speed6, that's when I started getting that nice "lean spot" around 3500rpm... although that was with a POS TXS DTEC for boost control, from what I can see, the AP looks like it's doing a GREAT job of controlling your factory BCS. You're not hitting a high peak pressure, but looking at your torque curve, it's doing a great job holding boost, and since torque vs RPM is the equation that determines horsepower, I doubt not hitting higher peak boost pressures is costing you much power at all. It's only costing you in the peak torque/mid-range department.
Honestly, with my old Speed6's "lean spot" issue, your torque/power curve is the EXACT results I was trying to attain, but unfortunately, the DTEC had it's only BCS, and even playing with the WDC vs RPM settings, the DTEC's BCS was never fast reacting enough to achieve the desired result. Whereas it looks with the AP's OTS map WG settings, the OEM BCS is doing a GREAT job! Kudos to you sir
