I have been cleaning things up for spring/summer and have noticed oil right where the boost tube connects with the intercooler(inside, noticed when I changed plugs and removed the TMIC). I don't remember seeing that before.
I had my turbo replaced about 17000 miles ago under warranty. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this before. I was just worried because I put the new intercooler on and a week later changed the plugs and there was already a good portion of oil coating the inside again....Thanks

I have the same problem. It is the damn turbo seals that were used in the K04. They require backpressure to properly seat and not allow oil into the intake portion of the system. Most of the time the smoke from the burning oil is captured in the CAT, but if you are catless then you will notice the smoke.
I would suggest a catch can or two to solve the problem. There are a few write ups on the process over on 6club. If you PM Eric over on 6Club he should be able to help out.

Good(or not more like it) to know someone else here is having the same problem. I figured it was the seals, just was taken by surprise when I noticed it all of a sudden. My exhaust has only been on the car for about 2000 total miles it has been off all winter. I am running a test pipe now and there is no visible smoke. I also run resonators as well(with the CP-e), thinking 3 should add some back pressure.
I will look into the catch cans, thanks for your input....
Looking like I will be buying a used core online and have it rebuilt........ugh
Have you noticed any down sides to this problem besides the obvious?

Greg you need a catch can to eliminate the blow by that being recirc'd back to your intake. The previous comments about the Turbo may be part of it but I'm pretty sure it can be corrected with an OCC. I had the exact same issue on my MS3 and it is now gone. Saikou Michi FTW! Whatever you do, don't buy a CC that is literally just a can with nothing in it to allow the moisture, oil, gas (shit) to condense/collect in the can. There alot of people running Saikou Michi cans around the country that have been very pleased. COBB has a good writeup for install procedure if you don't already know how here --> http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/mazda/AP-MAZ-02/MS3-MS6%20Service%20Bulletin%20v1.02.pdf
Here is a pic of mine installed as well :-) You should see the shit that drains out of this little bastard. I drained it while I was putting putting my FMIC on and it had only been about 1 month. About 2 ounces of green/brown gas/oil that smelled like hell.

Thanks Rich and Troy, yep that was my first thought to add a CC to the car, but the oil is coming from the turbo right at the compressor, not the valve cover(well I am sure some is coming from there too) there is standing oil in the boost tube and a notable amount in the inlet of the TMIC.....It is definitely the seals. I have been running a test pipe since almost the beginning and when I added the CBE I am sure it just aided the seal failure. I am putting the CBE on thursday when my hangers come in through mazda, and I am sure I will see smoke now as it has gotten quite a bit heavier. I will however order the CC as I do need one for the extra protection..............
Well the problem will soon be fixed.....heheheh

Rich wrote:Of course it's coming out of the compressor....Valve Cover -> Intake -> Compressor Outlet. What goes in the intake will come out the compressor....air, oil, etc.
I understand that Rich, but the intake is dry just a little filmy residue in there(CAI-Turbo Inlet) the norm, I checked it out when I did my last oil change two weeks ago(cleaned the filter). I have not noticed the build up any other time I had the TMIC off, except when they warrantied my turbo for smoking, had to clean out my intake and intercooler......That is why I came to the conclusion it could be the Turbo seals
I have had issues with what your describing on previous cars but the intake track was fouled pretty good as well.......mine is clean as it can get:).
I Appreciate every ones advice..........It doesn't really matter now that I have a new turbo coming......I will have it checked out by a shop when it is off the car. If all is well then I will have a good core/replacement for somebody or a back up for myself.
Troy where did you order your CC?
I am having Eric help with the Install(If you hadn't guessed I bought his new PG Turbo), will get some advise from him then......

Rich wrote:Well, I stand corrected. Didn't think things were that bad with the seals to actually leak on the compressor side.
My hands are still up in the air......my first turbo was pretty f...up
It was cracked and thats where the leak came from.......never had the seal problem before, kinda new to me. The turbo runs well still, while the first started making awful high pitched noises while spooling. I looked and could not see any external damage like I did before. It maybe a different problem altogether.....I hope I did not in anyway offend or upset you, I just did not communicate fully my findings/problem
Thanks Again, as I hope to use your knowledge as I further dig into the MS6

How would you describe the noise it was making during spool?
