Wish me luck...
So on my way back from Denver the other day and my car had NO power in 6th gear, couldn't get past 77mph. Even felt like it lost power when shifted to 6th. That coupled with various other problems lead me to taking it to the shop. Good news, they gave me a loaner. Bad news, they think I might need a new engine. How the engine could be going out with only 15600 miles is beyond me. They should know by tomarrow.

Mines an '04..... It had low compression.... Probably one of the many early 04-05 models that was plagued with what is thought to be a casting issue during production of the motor. From what I understand is that an air bubble in the housing was the cause.... but I never got a diagnosis on wether the seals were shot or not...

Mazda hasn't made a good rotary since the 12A. I can't beleive this kind of stuff is still hapening. The 12A's usually last 180k to 220k without any problems but oil leaks.

Got my car back from the dealership today and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Said everything checked out ok and they couldnt duplicate any of the problems. Just gotta keep my eye on it and hope it was nothing. Cool thing though, they reflashed my PCM. Said to many customers were complaining about a lack of power. Just the short time i drove it since, I can see a big difference. Maybe thats all it needed.

Glad to hear your car is ok, but I gotta call bullshit on no problem found. They don't re-flash and ecu for no reason. Don't get me wrong, I like the new Mazda's, but they seem to be brushing off some issues and acting like they did the car owner a favor. At least you brought it in and documented it under your warranty period. Now if it has the issue again, you can claim it under your warranty.
