Gas Cap Issues

Postby ms. D » Sun Jan 11, 2009 9:14

This is a ridiculous question I know, but does/has anyone else ever had problems with their gas cap not coming off so easily?

Last week I faught with my gas cap for a good 5 minutes before I eventually pulled the damn thing off! (probably made it worse lol)

I have read quite a bit about this on another mazda forum. I haven't personally had an issue but have read about others getting to the point of having to get their car towed to mazda from a gas station. Id def get to mazda asap before it gets completely stuck. There was a tsb for earlier 3's so I am not sure if it applies to your car but they should be able to tell you.

I might need to get this checked out as well, as I had problems getting my cap on correctly the last time I filled up. I was able to get it off ok, but when putting it on it never clicked. Tried this several times, and finally gave up.

Thank you everyone.

JT I am still a newbie to the forum so I do not know who Jimmy is :-/

Even when I put the cap on correctly, it still gives me a hard time coming off. Its hard to describe what it does but its a pain in my arse fumbling with the cap at the damn gas station!

I'm assuming you are Jimmy? sorry, long day, brain is fried.

Also, does anyone know if the Mazda dealership off 104th and Federal is any good? My car originally came from Iron Mountain Auto Plex Mazda in Windsor CO. Needless to say, that is way too effin far to get any type of service my bebe needs.

GASSS cap!

Postby CWPMS3 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 9:14

Yup, we had to buy a new cap for our MZ3 after it became unwilling. That was in PHX, AZ so it is not the cold either. If they come out with a TSP could I get refunded? Yah right, I know. Good Luck. An d, Oh Yah, LOTS OF EFFORT required the New cap. LOL

I had to get a new gas cap for my 3. It got stuck and I had to pry it off. Gas caps are like $30.00 depending on the car. For the 3 they are 28.67 plus tax.
