New tires??

Postby Benji1989 » Mon Nov 17, 2008 9:14

I have a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 and I need new tires bad. I was wondering what other people have and if anyone has any suggestions for good all season tires? I was thinking about getting two sets of tires, but that is going to get really pricey and tires for this car are already ridiculously expensive! Any advice would help!

All seasons are a decent compromise, but are not the best option if you drive your car in winter weather.

If price is an issue, then drop down to 17" wheels. There are a lot more options at that size and they are cheaper too.

I have a dedicated set of winter and summer wheels and tires. My stock rims with Pirelli sottozero 240 snow tires, and some 17" rota torques with general exclaim UHP summer tires.

Getting a dedicated set of summer and snows is the best option, but all seasons will probably be your most economic. Just don't drive the stock summers in the snow.

See if you can find a set of Fuzion ZRi's. They are the best 18-unch deal for the $$.

Tire Rack has BFGoodrich g-Force Sport in a 225/45-18 for $76/tire
Move to a 225/40-18, and you'll have more choices under $100.

Kumho Ecstas are pretty inexpensive as well. That's what I had on the Mazdaspeed wheels when I had my 6i. 225/45/18. I think I got that at Discount for right about $100/each at the time.

Funny the Fuzions are mentioned, that's what the previous owner swapped onto the 8. They've worn quickly.

Even with the awd, the all-seaosns arent worth much. I too have a dedicated set of summer tires, and a set of winters on stock 17" rims.. My winters are Yokohama Ice Guards, they are siped and do very well in snow, but can be a little loud on dry roads.

Search craigslist or ebay for a set of 17" Mazda wheels and get tires for those. Then to ease the price shock of having to buy 2 sets of tires, wait until spring to replace the worn out 18" tires.

I have Goodyear Eagle GT's on my car...well had, until i badly bent some of my rims, but I have been amazed with those tires every time I get in my car! I really like them and would recommend them to anyone. Depending on your location, Dave works at a Goodyear store and I know he has helped others on here with tires, and am sure he wouldn't mind helping someone else out.

But, I too have some winter tires on my stocker 15" rims since my 18"s are fucked up and I don't wanna ruin the tires this winter.

Alright thank you! I think i am just going to get some all seasons just because of the upfront cost of buying a whole new set of tires and wheels plus still needing to replace the tires i have now. I also dont really have a place to keep my other set of tires...
