Road trips in your Mazda

Postby Huzer21 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 9:14

Who's taken a decent road trip in their car? My longest would be my trip back to NY a couple of years ago in my 6. 1900 miles each way for that trip. On the way out, I did it in 2 days, a more leisurely 3 days on the way back. I took the pup with me on that trip...she's a great road trip dog.

A month ago, I did the much shorter 1300ish mile round trip to KC. I must say, the 8 didn't get cramped at all on that trip. Granted it was just me the entire way out.

Anyone else?

I have an upcoming trip to St Louis and back in about a month:
Mini Trans America Zoom-Zoom

And in the spring of 2007, I just got a job in the Denver area while my family was still back in Wichita, KS as my wife finished up teaching and got the house sold. Every weekend in April of 2007, I was on the road driving back and forth. The first trip back to Wichita, I got caught in a snow storm just south of Salina, KS. The interstate had about 4" of the most slushy snow I've ever seen. There were cars all along the interstate in the ditch. I followed a cattle truck all the way to Wichita because he was clearing the way for me.
Route
Google Maps claims a couple ticks over 9 hours, but I swear I was doing it in the 7.5 hour range.

I drove my FD from Charlotte, NC to Denver over the summer. The trip was nice, driving through TN was great...too bad it was HOT and I had no a/c, ah the things people do for their cars. :) The FD did feel small after a while, but it wasn't uncomfortable...the car fits people my size like a glove.

I left Denver at noon on a Saturday, went to Vegas, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Returned to Denver at 11am on Monday. Very quick, but very fun trip!

Since I got Lucky, I've done one trip to Dallas, one trip to Vegas/Hoover Dam, & a million trips to Glenwood Springs. Next road trip: Yellowstone probably.

It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it.

A lot of you have taken some long trips. If I took that kind of trip in my car I would be numb after 500 miles.

The only out of state trip we have taken was to Amarillo and back at the end of July, just after I got the car... It was stellar. Better yet was a trip over Labor Day up to Steamboat Springs and back over Trail Ridge Rd. & Estes Park... Passing was just ridiculous. Good road car. :)

I haven't done any major trips in any of my mazdas, but we have done a few trips in my moms 6. To vegas for a long weekend trip, and then back to Indiana a few times. I'm hoping to take my 3 back to Chicago/Indiana this spring.
