Eesh.. as far as I can tell, spun bearing.

I had been trying to remedy what I thought was lifter tapping all week, when it turned into the death rattle. Luckily I was stopped at a light, so i turned onto a side street on the way home. Stopped the engine, checked under hood, thinking it might have been something hitting against one of the fans, started it up, and the death rattle continued, and the poor engine seized.

She now sits in the garage... I've never done an engine teardown before... should be fun. But there goes our funding for our road trip to see our parents over Turkey Day..

Oh, and I probably won't be at the B-day bash...

When I get to the carnage (eventually) I'll post pics.

ive have thrown bearings before. If your lucky, you might be able to reuse a lot of parts, unless this is a good excuse to go nuts.

Damn, that sucks. I remember my "oh shit" moment when the MG blew up. I pulled over on I25 and turned off the ignition, got out of the car, and just listened to it continue to blow up. Boom. My explosion was because I'm an idiot and was running a wee bit lean. Piston fused to cylinder, rod shot through top of piston. Hmm, wonder if it got a little hot.

I will say that tear downs are fun, though! Good luck with yours!

Well the denver 'deal' was a bust. They never picked up their phone once nor returned a call.

Got a motor from lone kiwi parts and had it shipped to peak auto service to do the swap.

Motor got lost in transit.

Arrived yesterday.

And now, the shop's queue is full, so they 'might be able to start on it tomorrrow.'

Sorry to hear about the engine diing on you. I remember the day my 13B blew two apex seals. It suck! My car was on jack stands for five years. Glasd to hear your's if already getting fixed.

Okay, have had the car since monday afternoon... it's running fine, but the exhaust is vibrating against the subframe, so I need to put the car up on the ramps and adjust the positioning of the subframe and fix that.

Had a little intermittent power loss problem, but I finally figured out today that was do to a miswiring mod that I did.. I was attempting to cross the a/c and temp fan signal wires so that if the temp fan turned on, the a/c fan would spin as well, but missed the temp signal wire by two places on the ECU harness, and tied it instead to the ignition signal wire. So.. the fan was always on, and when the temp signal kicked in, it totally futzed with the spark firing signal.
