Unforunately this is a situation that is directly attributable to your mods. Reducing the back pressure created by removing the cats causes the seals in the turbo to float, causing the smoking turbo.

It is too bad that you had to go back to stock to get the turbo replaced since that is what was causing the failure in the first place.

If I were in your position I would be mad as hell as well, but I guess it is the gamble we all make when we start messing with these cars.

I hope everything works out for you. It is a shitty way to deal with an issue with this car for sure.

the new turbos dont have the floating seal issue, so hopefully once its fixed, I should be good, plus cp-e is welding in a new cat for me on the downpipe as we speak..

Hope it gets fixed for ya. Saw some seal problems online and now I know exactly what you are speaking of. Sad part is that the Cats burn the excess oil but eventually your stock exhaust would smoke like cheech and chong too

UPDATE: 2nd cat is gutted, Standback is installed and set at 19psi.. just went for a long drive, pushed 'er pretty hard, still no smoke.. although I must say the car runs ALOT better with that standback in...especially at 19lbs...lol

and BTW Rich, you were wondering how a fully stock car would accept the standback, havent had fuel cut or anything yet...

I hate your face, Mr. Stock-Never-Been-Flashed ECU guy. What are you spiking to with the Standback set to 19 lbs?

Well, whatever you do don't load the engine under 3k rpm running that kind of boost. Unless you just want a new motor.

cant i get a new motor AND a turbo?...lol

I'm out of ideas, the standback needs to come back out regardless.. I'm thinking Im stuck with what i have. My only option is to put the dp back on, and go to Mazda with as much fire power i can regarding the turbo issue.

Ron, I could probably use some documentation or anything you may have as well, thanks
