My wife gives me a hard time because I can be particular about the fuel for the Speed3. Of course I only use super unleaded, but she gives me grief because I will only go to what I call a "3-hose" pump. I think it goes back to riding the FJR, when if I went to a single hose pump and purchased super unleaded and someone before me had regular, I always felt a bit cheated by the fact that I was getting a fair amount of regular unleaded from within the hose and other piping before the super unleaded flowed into the tank of the motorcycle. When you are only talking about 5-6 gallons, that could be a significant amount of regular unleaded within that small of a fill-up. It chaps her that I'll by-pass a cheaper, closer place only to go to a pump with a dedicated hose for super unleaded. I am a really happy guy if I can get 93 octane on a dedicated hose too. But it's not like there are endless choices out here like there seemingly is in the cities, so I take what I can get.
Am I the only one like this? Or am I just as goofy as she says? (No, wait. I know part of the answer to that.)

I see what you're saying. I guess it would bug me too in a motorcycle application. I'm kind of a fuel snob myself- I've always been particular to Texaco...Shell. Conoco always seems to burn a lot quicker. I dunno. I'll drive out of my way to get to a Shell station.... (of course this has nothing to do with the single or triple hose)

one and one makes two, together we are free

You are such a lier. We with non-piston high compression motors need to run as high as we can.
Where in CO are you getting 93 octane? I have a rotary, so I use junk fuel anyway. We with the non piston engines need to use the lowest octane we can find, unless it's boosted of course.[/b]

Rotaries have been proven to run better on low octane.

Actually, it was in Nebraska last week on my trip to Minnesota and back.
There is this thread on here about who has over 91 octane.

Up here in Boulder County there are several Shell stations and two of them have the ETHANOL ADDED placard on each pump. MTBE, I guess, is no longer but I have noticed a mileage difference between Shell fill-ups with ETHANOL versus those that don't have the placard. The Ethanol-added fuel is about 40 miles less per tank. I've filled-up 8 times (910ct) since delivery, two were this ethanol added and those two tanks were 21 and 23mpg all other tanks were 25mpg or greater.

LOL... It's nice to know I am not the only one that does that.
It was good to meet you today Johnny. Thanks again for the deal on the wheels/tires.
You can follow me. I fill up, then tilt the hose to get what's left out of it. LOL[/b]
