+1 On Mobil 1, especially if you match it with a K&N Oil filter. K&N has the highest micron rating for an oil filter. Gotta agree with Drifter on the Royal Purple in the rear. I had the dealer swap my tranny oil so im not sure whats in there, prob some generic crap. Of course if she's high mileage and you wanna go old school can grab up some Murphy's Mystery Oil, Lol

I thought I heard somewhere that our turbos don't like fully synthetic...hence the semi is recommended. I could be wrong though... :6a434460:

what i've read is that turbos are hotter (obviously) and they burn normal oil if youve ever seen an older turbo accelerate hard u can see its exhaust some times not always because its running rich tho

From my understanding, Mazda does not recommend a full synthetic motor oil for the 2.3 disi turbo. A semi synthetic is ok by their standards. I can't remember where i saw that, but i even think its in the owners manual under the oil change service section.

I'm still not sure about this, but...there does seem to be a great deal of people using fully synthetic oil in their Speeds.
Here's one write up I found...

I use 5w20 Motorcraft synthetic blend, or castrol syntec 5w30 synthetic blend in my MSP, and only motorcraft in the 6, for the tranny i just used chevron 75w90 synthetic gear lube, since its what my shop uses lol.

Every time i have used mobil 1 on my cars or customers cars i always see a leak somewhere, so i never use it, synthetic blends seem to work great in my cars.

If you guys think you're getting full synthetic when you buy Mobil1, think again. I've been using Royal Purple in the SRT and the MS3 since the first oil changes. Just personal preference. I have no data to prove that it's better than Amsoil, Redline or others. The SRT tranny seemed to shift smoother when I used Royal Purple Synchromax than when I used Red Line.

Bob is the oil guy is a good site for oil discussion.

^^Yep. Mobil 1 "fully" synthetic is blended with conventional oil. And I read somewhere, non-official, that it's only about 8-18% synthetic.

I've known it was blended for awhile but I didn't know how little synthetic it actually was. I just switched my Protege to Red Line.
