Wow. I have owned this sweet Hiroshima-built Mazda for 2 months now and have gotten as many compliments and thumbs up from passers by as I have in my old bright red 02 Corvette C5 (sold) and nearly as many as my older but pristine collectible 1978 Corvette Pace Car (the classic Silver and Black Official Pace Car of the Indy 500). And yet I only paid $18k for this slightly used 2004 Rx8. Gotta say it's pretty damn cool. I wonder if they know about the itty bitty 1.3L rotary under the hood???

No one knows what's in it. Everyone thinks it's TC. and they think it's a 4 cylinder.

This is very true. Most of the people that ask me about my car think its "just" a 4 banger. As one person put it, "its just a 3 with a stupid body kit" Yep... it sure is :D

The only car I've owned that received more looks (others received less than complimentary stares) was my '67 Mustang Convertible. I've had the 8 for just about 10 months now and it hasn't worn off. It does, however, need a wash. Sitting out unmoved for 2 weeks while on vacation has left it kinda dingy.

Barring disaster, the 8 will be my long term project car. No plans on getting rid of it anytime soon.

I've never got a thumbs up in the rx.

I get a comment in the Galaxie every time I'Ive driven it. The wife never used to beleve me untill someone said something everytime I stopped on a parking lot. The comment I useually got was I remember getting pulled over by one of those back in the day. I actually had one guy drive off the road because he was watching me drive by going the other way (true story).

I've also got plenty of comments in the willys.

Your only problem in the RX is that you need to go out and buy a roller to finish your custom paint jpob.
