Im not sayin people have to justify their participation when i said clean house. I meant how many of the memebers are registered names to people that never come to the site anymore? I was on RX8 Club for a bit. When i didnt post on the site they sent me an email sayin i hadnt participated because i never went to the site anymore. Thats part of what i think happens here. People join up, surf for a bit n never come back. That might be partially why we have so many members but no participation.

Hi Everyone! I am brand new to this site (as of this afternoon) and I would like to add my opinion. With summer here, vacations planned (or staycations), graduation, new summer jobs, etc, everything needs to be planned out. You can't expect to say, alright everyone, I am heading up the mountains tomorrow at noon, lets all get together! You (some) expect for all of us to be able to drop whatever we have going on at the last minute and have a great turnout. I have not yet been to a meet, but you will definately see me there. Think about it... the Hamburger Stand is probably the best turn out (from what you all are saying), and what is different about that?? It's scheduled, its always Sunday nights...
So when you are thinking about trying to get more people involved, stick to a plan. If people really want to join (like I know we do) then they will start to plan their personal schedules around knowing that a "meet" or "show" or "cruise" has already been planned.
I hope that helps. I am excited to match faces with the names this sunday

Welcome to the club bmwzoom.
As far as member participation is concerned, i fully understand prior plans that land on meet days, and work schedules. I myself have skipped numerous meets on account of school not allowing me to attend, however when we plan a meet near a month and often even farther in advance and still only see a turnout of less than 10, then i get frustrated. More than half of the meets that we plan are announced far in advance of the day scheduled, which from my perspective gives people enough time to request off from work or mark their calenders to not plan/schedule any other event. I do take into account that weekend meets often don't work for many as they work M-F and the weekend is time for their family ect, but your family is of course welcome to the meet as we here at CMZC are all a family.
True this may be to some solely an online thing, but i don't buy that. You joined a local only Mazda club, not a national/world wide forum where there are no meets ect. Here at CMZC you have the opportunity to take your club experience out of the office or home and actually meet other enthusiasts. I understand that many want to cruise and not just stand around and talk, so in the interest of those that want to drive more talk less, we will begin to set up "drive meets" where the purpose of the meet is to drive.
I greatly appreciate all of you who participate in meets and random chit chat, and i am by no means trying to "get on" those of you who don't. Josh started this thread/discussion to maybe light a fire under those that don't attend meets to maybe come to one and see how much fun they are. Meets can only be fun if you come to make them such. So please try your best to make it to one or two or three and see what we are really about, after all you joined this club because you like Mazda's, not the internet :P

Thanks! Glad to be here. I think... that when I get to meet with you all I would prefer to drive at first. But I am happy any way. I love to drive, so when I have a car that I know like the back of my hand- I want to put it to the test and enjoy doing that with others. But like I said, meeting and talking is always fun to do - I just don't have the extra $$$ for mods like some of you do. Nevertheless... I am here.

Josh,
Like i told you last night, I think there is a lot of great things going on from the club. Take a look at the vw group.. You think your club "lacks Participaiton"? Metrodubs, has been around a lot longer has more members, and yet... way way way less post...
Colorado mazda club has taken off, some people post, some poeple just read, and others just dont feel the need to come to meets or "support" the club.

You know my experience with clubs...and the slow activity during the winter months is nothing surprising. Spring time is here, the BBQ is next weekend which sort of symoblizes a kickoff.
I'm not going to explain my lack of participation over the last few months, but Lee knows what's been going on in my life. I even opted to withdraw my position in the "Special Ops" team, but he refused to let me do it. Now that I'm turning things around in my life, you'll be seeing me around more often. You know I will help out when I can. As for donations for the Bday bash, you know I'll help out there, too...when I can. No job = No money = No life. Things suck in all aspects...but like they say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!"
And with personal experience, going to weekly meets at the same location, seeing the same people, and the same cars...YAWN. I will do what I can to make it to an occassional one here and there, but not every week. I can't keep my car clean for more than a day lately! (STUPID RAIN)
I know I have forgotten events in the past, and I'm truly sorry for that. I will make damn sure that when I sign up, I will show up, too. Thank goodness for smartphones! (Smarter than me sometimes...)
Josh, I'm not mad...I just think you need to calm down a little, and expect less. Be happy with what you do have...which is a lot more than a lot of other clubs have! You and Lee have done an excellent job keeping this club from going down the "Big Mike" way. It's a great club, and we all love it!!

It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it.

Um... Wow. I've only read the first post. My thought is, I've held many of meets/cruises with many different "clubs" and you can't please everyone. Sounds like you're taking this a bit personal and you shouldn't. Oh and I remember the Sept 350Z/Mazda meet and saw the thread were everyone complained about. However I didn't say anything. I now know that most of you don't want to drive South but yet complain when people don't drive North. This seems to be a common problem amoung all "clubs." Its almost a Springs vs. Denver issue. My suggestion... Be happy for the eight members that do come out. Also take into acct some people register to the site and never come back.

meeting up with the same people maybe even in the same place allows friendships to form. when that happens then cooler things will happen because you have formed a friendship. so that is why you should participate if you can. I used to not be into showing up and hanging out, don't know why, because now can't imagine not going. we all have at least one thing in common, so lets take advantage of that and see where we can get.
