I noticed this yesterday when I was at a stop light. I had my car in neutral, it was idling at 700rpm's, I pushed the clutch in, put it in first, and the rpms went up to 1150. I also noticed that the throttle would 'hang' for a second or so at high rpms after I let off the gas in the lower gears.
I reset the ecu yesterday after I noticed this, and everything seemed to be back to normal, even this morning on the way to work. But just now, I came back from a job, and it was doing the same thing.
I havent put the bypass plug in yet for the standback to see if thats causing the issue, thats my first step, i guess. Anybody else have any ideas?
Wierd idle

Today, car threw a P0704 (Clutch switch input circuit malfunction) AND a P0507 (idle speed higher than expected)...did a search, on both codes, and found this::
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123637185
Also found this:
DTC P0704 [FS]
DTC P0704 Clutch switch circuit malfunction
DETECTION CONDITION
* PCM monitors changes in input voltage from the clutch switch. If PCM does not detect PCM terminal 6 voltage changes while running vehicle with vehicle speed above 30 km/h {19 mph} and stopping vehicle 10 times repeatedly, it determines that clutch switch circuit has malfunction.
* Diagnostic support note This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
* MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles.
* PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
* FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
* DTC is stored in PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
* CLT switch malfunction
* Open harness between clutch switch terminal A and PCM terminal 6
* PCM malfunction
Anyways, called Mazda, the part is a whopping $7.75.... Pretty damn sure this will fix the problem, part is ordered, and will be here NEXT Thursday....just in time for NOTHING (because NOPI SUCKS ASS)
