I've been pulled over for it too. It's not something they write alot of tickets for in the Springs, but it's probable cause to pull you over and harrass you. God forbid you walked passed an open beer, your finished. I don't condone drinking and driving, but I just don't like cops bugging me. There are way too many child molesters walking free out there the donut muchers to fu@#ing with me over a license plate. Whe I finallly put my car back together the two thing at the top of my list before hitting the street were the front plate and the rear plate light. Don't give them a reason to be the nazi cocksuckers they so love to be. Chris, call. me and bring the car over, we will figure something out in five minutes. I have all kinds of misc. hardware and brackets in my shop.

I'm using zip ties on my front grill... I took the license plate holder off the front... looked hideous.

So... not to cause an arguement, but this isn't the best outloook. Child Molesters, Rapists, Murderers, Drug Traffickers, etc. also get pulled over by cops for things such as no front license plate and no rear plate light. Very often that is what gives the Officer probable cause to pull the vehicle over. Once the vehicle is pulled over it gives the Officer the chance to check for warrants, get a peek inside the car, etc. and will often lead to an arrest. It happens all the time. Not to mention that at a glance, they can't distinguish you from one of the types of criminals mentioned above. You also have to understand that Police Departments have different divisions. Some Officers are assigned to traffic, others to a gang unit, some to a DUI unit, etc. To say they should all be out looking for a certain type of criminal is a little extreme.
Also, when you think about it in extremes, you are violating a legitimate law. If you don't have your plate properly mounted according to statute, they can pull you over and issue a ticket.

With all of that being said, it is important to know that many agencies won't actually pull you over for things such as no front plate. Denver is one of those examples. Colorado State Patrol, however, will pull you over in a heartbeat for no plate, cracked windshield, obstructed vision, and no plate lights. It is also important to know that the "meter maids" in Denver will issue a ticket for no front plate. Last time I checked it was around $30, but I may be wrong.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be an ass, just encouraging everyone to think about this from another angle.

It is a $60 ticket in downtown denver for no plate. I speak from recent experience.

Hee hee. I should warp the plate into an aerodynamic shape.

When I was pulled over by a CSP officer for a "hard to read rear plate" (smoked plate cover was badly scratched and nearly impossible to see through), he walked to the front of the car and saw that I had no front plate. At the time, my car was still registered in KS which is a one plate state.

I really don't see what everyone's hold up about not mounting their front plate. It's just another reason to stick out and for the police to pull you over and potentially get you for other things while they have you- tint too dark, cracked windshield, lights out, maybe you've had a few beers...... Not worth the hassle, IMO.

.....sigh ya ok I will probably just mount the plate with some zip ties but I just think it takes away from the BA look of the car with a front plate. Also because since I think its on record now if I get pulled over again for it I probably won't be able to try and feed them some bs.

The problem I see with zip ties is someone car steal it in less than a min.
