$320 for a tune up? Yikes? How many miles? FYI- alot of people on here do their own service and would be willing to assist you if you were interested. Next time. Most of what they do for that $320 can be purchased on your own for about $100 (if you have an automatic transmission). I haven't done a timing belt on my Protege yet. I'm approaching 60,000 miles but I think I'm going to wait until closer to 90,000 before I do it. The good news with the Protege motor is that if the belt does break, you won't screw up your motor- it'll just leave you stranded.

Had mine done through TC's it was like 650 for timing belt water pump and both drive belts. I would not pay 1k for just timing belt and water pump. They had it for about 5 hours at most. dropped off in the morning, picked up that afternoon. Definately rec. them. They mainly deal with honda subaru and I think mitsubishi but had no problems working on my mazdaspeed. If you want there info 03_mazda pm me and I will get you there info.
