For those of you with a Cold Air intake, now would be a good time to clean that thing before winter. I know mine takes about 2 hours to clean, 20 minutes to clean, the rest for it to dry.
Plus I have to take the damn wheel off just to get to the thing. I love cramped japanese cars.

I was thinking along the same lines...I ordered a new one from Rosenthal plus a cleaning kit for $50. Figured I would just swap them out and clean the spare each season. Also got one of the Hydro Shields this year for winter. Figured I would let the dealership put it on when I get my winter oil change and tire rotation in a few weeks.

I just cleaned mine two days ago actually... Mine was looking pretty bad it was full of dirt on the spash guard side, but when I was done with it it was almost back to its blue color again [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img] The car seemed to like it!

Ignore the stupid question if you want but why now worry about cleaning it vs 4 months ago?

Adverse winter weather is almost here along with all that wonderful de-icer they like to throw on the roads. That will mean your intake filter will clog faster than a Dutch tap dancer at tap school, thanks to all the crap that will be on the roads. Cleaning ya filter just before winter will help your cars performance through winter......see...asshat...lol.

I love having enough room in my engine bay to just about crawl into it and shut the hood.. Well, not really, but having the room to shoehorn in a 302 if I wanted makes it easy to work on the little 1.8. [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

Sweet, thanks Tim.
I look at the thread title, and wonder what the hell an Old Air Intake is. I'd prefer new air.
I still have the CPE cleaner, too, Lee. Next meet, remind me. It's in the trunk.
Sweet, thanks Tim.
Which one... "Big Ums"? (Know where thats from?) Lol
