Well, we spent most of our day today designing and painting my intercooler cover. We decided to see how flames would look on it and if we would even like them. Any thoughts?

Thats pretty cool! What type of paint did you use? I want to paint my intercooler and other plastic parts in the bay.

We used the Model Master paint made by Tester. We chose to do that because it is made for plastic and if for some reason the flames get rubbed off by the rubber from the hood, we didn't spend hundreds of dollars on paint.

hah thats good and yeah I figured that'd happen (rubbing) the underside of the hood rubs on the intercooler cover when you shift due to engine movement.

Josh, there is a product called Sand Free, it's a plastic spray prep that you spray on plastic immediately before you paint it. It opens the surface of the plastic and makes paint bond with it extremely well. I've been using it for years. Most hobby shops have it and I belevie it might even be at a lot of the home centers. If you want to paint your underhood plastics, make sure you use it, it'll keep the paint from peeling off.

I thought you actually painted the Intercooler itself which I think would be cool! The Cover looks very good, nice job. :)

We are going to paint the intercooler itself next. Just need to figure out what color we want to do and how we are going to design it.
