20" Hero Saint

These are the 20s I put on layaway today and will be out by May. I almost got them today because the rims came with Yokohama all seasons but I don't trust this weather. These were the first ones that caught my eye and they kept telling me it wouldn't fit but guess what...they do! There were other ones I liked but I didn't want it to look too much like the stock wheels. Let me know what you think.....I really hope I'm not making a mistake!
The RX-8 comes with 18" wheels, right? So up sizing 2" will mean that the tires will be little more than stretched rubber bands if you roughly keep the same overall diameter. So the tire will offer little protection to the wheel when hitting bumps. And a rougher ride will be transmitted into the cabin as well due to the tiny sidewalls.
And these look chrome. Chrome is usually heavy. Heavy wheels also contribute to a rougher ride. And heavy wheels take away from the car's performance.

They are chrome. Actually I didn't see a big difference in size when they put it on. So do you at least like the design?? It's either this or the 5 spoke and yes call me hard headed but I'm sticking with chrome

Not bad. I don't like the little spokes in between the big ones. Aren't thinner tires better for handeling or something? The 22s on my bros expedition increases handeling over the stock wheels and tires. I also like the ride better with them over stock... But thats an SUV not a sports car.
Oh and 20's seem a little big. I've seen some on the web and they fit. 19's seem like a better size.

I didn't see a big difference when they put it on my car. They actually mounted the rim and tire on so I can see. I guess it depends on the design of the rim but I think I'm going back to change it to the 5 spoke. It'll be on layaway for 3 months so I can keep changing my mind on which one I want....there's so many to choose from!!

Im a fan of chrome if it works with the right car.. and if the car is the right color to.. Like mine, I believe with the blue color that chrome is a great look on it. Now if I had a white car. I'd go wtih some black or gun metal rims etc.. catch my drift.. On a red car.. Its kinda both ways. Depending on the style you get, chrome can look great on that car or it can just be way out of place. but you have to be careful which you get. As far as 20's on a sports car... well Im just like most out there and I'd say steer clear from that.. 20's on a car like this just wouldnt look right. You would save yourself money and IMO it would look much better with a set of 19" or even 18" with a good drop.
As far as that wheel that you chose, its a good looking wheel but Im not totally feeling it. Have you really done your searching and looking around for wheels? I know when I was picking mine, I looked for about 4mths and I looked through 100's of different wheels and countless websites with picture galleries to find one that I really really liked and caught my eye.. Now trust me, there were some other wheels I would have LOVED to have, but with the amount of money I had to spend I was kinda limited on my choices at the time.
For me it sounds like you like this wheel, but you also have others in mind to.. So you might not be totally set on your choice. So I would suggest that you really really think about it and pick out a few of your favs, and really think over which ones you like. Maybe even post all of them on here and see if Greek can do a photoshop for you to get an idea of what they would look like on your car to. Which 5 spoke design are you thinking about as your other option you metioned?
Im not trying to make you swerve one way or another and not get what YOU want cause its your car and what YOU want is what you should get. But then again, its good to get some feedback from others who also have the same interest as you and would help you out in knowning that you have a nice set of rims or your rolling on some fugly POS...

hehe thanks.. I know whats shes going through. I kinda jumped on the first thing I saw to and thought "damn thats a nice wheel" then a week later I looked at it again and was like " WTF am I thinking" So thats why I waited patiently til I found the one that I liked the most and the one that everytime I saw it on the websites it caught my eye more than any other wheel out there.. but trust me like I said, there were others I really just couldnt afford the extra $600 at the time for them and now that I can they dont make the damn things anymore
^Thanks for the helpful positive reply Matt![/b]

Anyways, my opinion I think 20"s are too big for an RX8. Performance and acceleration will be affected big time. Why not 19"s at least?

I think it's way too flashly plus did you check for rub and clearance issues? I agree 19's are perfect if you're going up a size. I don't mind helpig you look also.
