***Result on page 4 post 79***

I was going to post this in the "F/I" forum but thought it would better in "Other Automotive Discussion." That way F/I Mazda’s can go there for their info without reading about Nissans.

Anyhow, I know a lot of members already know from my "Stopping By" thread but wanted to start a new thread since I have everything or at least ordered. If you haven't figured it out by now I am twin turboing my '03 350Z. MAC Autosport will be doing my all my installation and tuning. I originally wanted to go with the JWT 530BB (Garrett GT2554R) kit. However JWT is out of stock of one part for that turbo. So I have elected, after long talks with Nick, Bill and other vendors, to bump up to the JWT 700BB (Garrett GT2860RS) kit. My major concern with going with the 700BB kit was boost. Too much boost and I'd pop the motor. I don't have the funds now to build the motor and that was the reasoning behind the 530BB kit. However, talking with Nick we will run low boost settings to bypass the worry of damaging the motor. Of course my next concern was spool up. Larger turbo, more lag. The Garrett GT2554R turbo (530BB) make full boost on the VQ35 (6.5psi) in 4th gear at about 2800 rpm. Talking with JWT, the Garrett GT2860RS turbo (700BB) will spool up about 300rpm later. Since we're dealing with a 3.5l V6 and not that 2.0l 4cly, lag shouldn't be a problem. Talking again with Nick, I was curious about tuning. Nick said that he will make a conservative tune so I don't have worries, but a nice linear power band that will be great for my daily driving and road racing. Torque will come quick (250+rwtq @ 3200-3500rpm) and continue rising till the HP takes over (5500rpm). I told him I want a nice daily driving tune and a more powerful, but safe, track day tune. So, we're thinking on 7psi (DD Tune) to be around 370-400rwhp & on 9.5psi (Track Tune) 430-450rwhp. We could go up to a full 10psi but I want to play it safe. ONce the funds come in to build the motor we'll run more boost.

I think this is going to be a fun day for me as I'm very excited to come home and complete another step in modding my Z!!! Everyone is more than welcome to come by when we put her on the dyno and start making power!!! :61424796:

There isn't a turtle to choose from- otherwise I would have used that to indicate how much of turtle that car is.

There is a dollar sign to show how much money I'll never see back. I think modding a car should be a addiction we can seek help for.

That's too funny!!! I love how her hands go flying up. Right there she's thinking... Oh shit!

Wonder if my wife's hand will do that when I hit boost? LOL
