I think I found the root of my electrical woes.

When you're chasing down a demon, it is sometimes helpful when they are painfully obvious. Where is that and what rubbed through it?

I hope that isn't related to your engine running issues and you're rebuilding a good engine... I know you probably wanted to rebuild it anyway though.

Normally I would too, but I loved finding it because of the electrical issues I was having lol. I just hope this fixes it.

Yes, I hate troubleshooting electrical issues, but it's much easier when it's obvious lol. Like I said though, I just hope that was the root of the problem and it's fixed now. And...

...Chris is right. Driver's side wheel well to be exact, right in front of the tire and just inside the fender. I think it was making contact when I turned right. I spliced the wires, wrapped them in several layers of electrical tape, and then used a metal strap to pull the harness away from the tire as much as possible, and used a thick piece of rubber between the two as a barrier. It's ghetto as hell, but I think it'll work. I didn't have any contact on the passenger side, but I did the same thing over there.

I think it's related to it sounding like a dead battery, but I don't believe it's related to the engine issues. I think that was all compression related.

Eduardo told me to contact Edgar at E&J Autosport, they are the ones that made the seals that ALS sold. Turns out they weren't actually ALS' seals, ALS just sold them as theirs and E&J manufactured them. Edgar asked me to send him pics of the housings and the apex seals, so I'm going to do that and I'm even going to send the seals themselves to him so he can check them out. Although I don't believe it was the fault of the seals, and neither does he, but he wants to see them anyway. I've heard nothing but good things about their seals. Also, he said he's going to sell me a new set for $250. Can't beat that!

Andy and I also made a list of all the parts I need for this project. And the engine bay is almost completely stripped out and ready for paint. I just need Zico to finish some welds on the water injection pump bracket that Tom Beauchamp welded in last year. He did it with the engine in so he could only do so much. Now that it's out I want to finish up the welds and paint it so it doesn't rust. I just hope the bolts I used as studs don't rust either or I'm screwed lol. No pun intended.

I ordered the rebuild parts last night, except for the apex seals. I need to ask Edgar what his paypal address is for those. I need to pick up some other odds and ends also...a new T4 gasket, a fuel filter with -8 ends (not sure what micron I need to get though), the 1/2" fuel line that Don Walker made, the paint for the engine bay that Cody told me to get, and some other small things. I also need to figure out what I'm going to do with the fuel system and finish that.

I just had a fantastic idea for the fuel system/surge tank. There's nothing saying the fuel pumps HAVE to hang off the hanger. Why not make a lid for the surge tank baffle that's already in there, but make it high enough to hang the pumps from it. Mount the fuel level sender on the back, put an electrical connector on the top, along with a hose fitting and then hook the hoses and electrical when you put the top (the top of the current fuel hanger) on. Baddabing, baddaboom.

I had another idea a couple days ago. I can't believe I didn't think of it before, but I'm going to try using the stock fuel line and the charcoal canister line and then tee them together into a -8 in the engine bay, through a filter, then to the secondary rail.

And yes, Don, I'm still going to get that 1/2" line from you lol.

I finally finished the ABS delete brake lines tonight. Have to make a permanent bracket still. I'll post pics of everything tomorrow night I guess. I also picked up some -4 size fittings and aluminum lines tonight to make the cooling lines for the wastegates while the engine is out. And I dropped off the transmission at Precision Standards today, and the Atkins part of the rebuild kit is waiting at the post office so I'll pick that up tomorrow.

Please educate me. What is the advantage of getting rid of the ABS?

with modified suspension, tire grip levels and different tire sizes the stock abs can do some wierd things.
