South Denver Automotive, I had them replace my bushings at $400,
Went there today for a quote on replacing my shifter-pivot-seal, and even though the guy didn't really know exactly what i was talking about, and claimed that you have to pull out the transmission to do it (BS) it would cost $900 (8 hours of labor), wouldn't even hook me up at all in any way. Some peeps on MSF forums have done the repair in 3 hours. ugh.
What grinds your gears?

People that have freinds willing tohelp do work on their car and continue to get hosed at the shop.
I'm sure that could be done in my garage Geo. Swapping the shifter out on the MZ3s I've done was pretty simple. Is the bushing you are talking about at the end of the shifter?

I appreciate it, I just suck at car stuff and don't like to take advantage of people when i'm not much help
It's the seal that's in the engine above the transmission, here are the details on the fix:

Read the one link, but didn't see a step by step. Those guys made it seem easy, but got to multiply the internet mechanic time estimates by 3. A guy told me he could swap an s2000 transmission in 90 minutes...
I'll look at the threads more now.
Eta: it doesn'sound horrible. What gets me is reassembly. I'd guess 4 hours start to finish. If everything goes well. Sounds like some guys struggled mightily with reassemble.

Thanks for looking
,
yeah i think the re-assembly part they struggled with was aligning the parts before hand, then aligning it while inserting back into the thingy*
Another hickup was getting some of the bolts loose, which is usually what stops me in my tracks when i try to work on stuff...

Lots of PB Blaster and time to let it soak in helps a lot with those stuck bolts, but sometimes they are still a bitch.

When people back into your car and crack your bumper. They know they hit your car and don't even bother to tell you or leave a note. I don't know if this happened at work or in front of the house but it sucks. I just got the grey car our of the shop in Nov. and now the bumper is screwed up. I bet it was the idiots working on the construction next to me. I had the 8 parked all last week and drove it today. Besides them the only person who parks in that space is my mom and she knows how to drive and there is plenty of space to fit any car. Even a 87 Lincoln.

I'd feel better seeing the area we would be working on in person. I have a love/hate relationship with really close shots. Can never get a feel for how tight things are. I am also lacking a stubby ratchet.
I parked the MSP in the capital hill area. From a 3rd floor apartment balcony I noticed someone parallel parking behind it.. so I set the car alarm off... they stopped, didn't even get out of their car, and then drove off... pretty sure they thought they hit it.
I have little faith in Denver drivers.

I used to live in Cap Hill and parking there was the worst, I'd sit out on the porch and watch cars 'park' and they almost always hit the cars in front/back of them. My old car was pretty much destroyed there. Would never have gotten the Mazda in that hood.

I drove by it about 4 days ago and it looked fine, but there was also snow on it...

I picked up the seal today from Lakewood Mazda,
Feel free to stop by if you're in the area and want to take a look,
If we were to give it a try, i'd definitely buy whatever tools (like stubby ratchet) that we may need, and would probably just give them to you to add to your professional collection
