Yeah it was a mix lol. The fantastic thing is the car made it there and back without any mechanical hiccups.

Yeah. Random insurance verification by Illinois Secretary of State. I didn't realize how long ago they asked for it (my Dad gets the mail at his house) and I took care of it too late. They suspended my registration without telling me and impounded the car (illegally it turns out) when they stopped me. Now they're covering it up by destroying all documentation that anything happened.

Alright, so the mod bug has bitten again. Actually, I'm not sure it's much of a mod. I'm planning on reinstalling AC and getting my heater core fixed so I can have heat again. It's too freakin hot to drive this car in the summer and on the days in winter when it's only cold and not snowy it's too cold to drive it.

My condenser was pretty beat up, so I bought another one from a guy on the forums. Hopefully it's in good shape and doesn't leak, and mounts up correctly lol. Apparently there were about three different versions of AC systems on the FDs. I took my beat up condenser to Manley radiator service to see if they could make it look newer and make sure it didn't leak but that was almost a week ago and I haven't heard back from them.

I found pretty much all the pieces to the system so it shouldn't be too hard to put back in. The hard lines seem to be in good shape but they are a little dinged up and dirty. Nothing some heat wrap won't fix lol. I bought a new separator because I was told after they've been sitting in open air for a while they need to be replaced. I cleaned up the compressor today and I found three of the four mounting bolts, it'll drive me crazy if I don't find the fourth one haha.

I'm planning on pulling the dash so I can get the heater core out and get it fixed, and while it's out I'm going to refurbish the evaporator for the AC and clean it up.

Also while the dash is out, I'm going to install a homelink button set from the sun visor of a Chrysler Sebring. Frank told me about the Miata guys installing them so they don't have to have a garage door opener in the car.

Now, the part that is more of a mod, and also what I'm going to do while the dash is out...I just bought some Speedhut gauges to replace the ones in the stock cluster. They haven't worked very well for a while now, my fuel gauge is pretty much toast and my odometer stopped working recently, so I'm replacing it all finally. It's going to be a bit of a pain, but it's doable. Several have done it already and there are a couple different ways to do it, I'm still trying to figure out how I want to do it.

Another thing I'll be doing soon is getting an Adaptronic ECU and getting rid of the Power FC. I'm tired of having crappy idle and all the other little nuances of the PFC. It's time to step into the new century. I've been having hot start issues with the car since I got back from North Carolina and I hope the new ECU takes care of some of that. With the new ECU I might go ahead and upgrade to AEM coils, an FFE crank trigger and a flex fuel sensor like Eduardo did so I can run E85, but I'll have to get new injectors and I'd probably do a whole new fuel system. All of that is probably far down the road.

Yeah I have a good bit of work coming up lol.

Oh yeah, and I still have to swap the tranny in Mike's car, put his good one in and take mine out of his car and the one in my car currently so I can get both of them rebuilt since the 5th gear synchro is going out on them both lol.

I have a lot more work planned too, but I'll need deployment money for that stuff.

Let me know how that homelink install goes.

I'm curious about the homelink modification to. There is a light flash mod that is done for the S2000s and surely can be done with other cars. I would like to do that, but need someone that can solder circuit boards.

It's very straightforward, just the two wires. One to ground, the other to constant 12v, although since I have a small battery I think I might hook it to ignition 12v.

The write-up Frank sent me had the guy taking the actual box apart and soldering wires to the circuit board so he could mount just the buttons onto the console, but I'm just going to wire the box in and mount the box somewhere kinda hidden.

I'd probably still go 12v constant even with a small battery. The homelink only opens up a pulse of current when you are opening or closing the door.

Found the S2k version

Thanks Eric!

I'm installing the AC back on my FD as well. But im doing to ditch the OEM Condenser and Dryer. Getting a I guess Universal condenser with the dryer already mounted. I'll keep the OEM Low Pressure hose and having a shop custom made the High pressure lines(thin lines).

Where did you find the universal condenser/dryer? What are you going to charge it with? I'm reading about R152a, otherwise known as keyboard cleaner lol. From what it looks like it works pretty well.
