Sunday, July 7th 2013 it is.
Next question, which park? I have no recollection of discussions of a similar meet happening last year. It's been too long. So who remembers which park it was going to be at?
And in case of rain, do we want to have a backup plan to be at a restaurant nearby or do we want to try to push it back a week?

I say lions park. It's a big park and also has a water place where you can go tubing if you want for free. But that's my vote. July 7th sounds good to me. Lets just try and get everyone on board now

Bump! It's been over a week without any activity. So which park do we want to have this at? That same one that was tried for in littleton last year? or was it lakewood? I don't know myself.
The good news is my work schedule is always free on Sundays now that I have a job so I'll be able to make it out if we still do the 7th.

For whatever it's worth, I'm still in.

P.S. The park that you are thinking of from last year, is Clement Park in Littleton.

I don't know how stuff is with fire bans though. So that's something to consider right now. I know for sure co. Springs is on one (obviously) but haven't really checked up on Denver but I'm assuming its probably the same. So the BBQ might have to be dinner/lunch some where or just rescheduled

I would push for clement park, and the fire ban is sortof a non-issue. If push came to shove, I could bring my propane grill in my truck in leie of driving my car. Also, I think since the "fire" would be contained in a grill at the park, there is no issue.

Fire bans generally aren't applicable to BBQ grills in residential park complexes, etc; I'm sure we can still come up with something. (?)

There is actually a really nice park near me (near the Bronco's Dove Valley complex) that I can check into, if people want. I can almost guarantee that there will be a reservation "fee" of some sort, but the park is nice with v-ball courts, shade from the pavilions, bathrooms, blah-blah-blah. And....! If people wanted to, it would be all of a 5 minute walk to my complex to enjoy the swimming pool and hot tub. Just a thought. I believe it is called Arapahoe County Community Park.

The fee only applies if you intend to preclude others from using the paviliion, right>? Problem is, if you don't have a reservation, and someone else does. I rented a pavillion for a surprise b-day for my wife and I think it was 50.00. That was Highlands Ranch though.

I went to a park in Littleton last year and Washington park in Denver and they said it was a no go on grilling because there was a fire in boulder.

I think you are talking about Araphoe County Community Park. It's literally right by the training facility. It looks quite nice to me. Tons of parking, volley ball courts, baseball diamonds, and plenty of open space. And apparently some barbecues too

As an update regarding fire bans, it would seem as though liquid and gas fueled grills are exempt in both Araphoe and Jefferson counties. Also, charcoal fueled grills are allowed in Araphoe County as well as long as they don't emit sparks while being operated.

And in regard to reservation fees, it costs $90 to rent one of the pavilion/shelter areas at Arapahoe County Community Park. At least, one we'd want to use does. Of the two that cost $90 to reserve, both have 2 large grills and the capacity to accommodate 50 people. Of those two, one has seating for 24 and is closer to the volleyball courts. The other has seating for 32 and is closer to an open field.
If we want to do this, I think we need to get people all to pitch in and help pay the reservation fee. $90 is a lot for one person to cover.
