Screw that, I'd have done the same thing. What's the difference who it is if you're defending yourself? Would you shoot a woman if she was trying to shoot you first? HELL YES. If he was just hitting her such as in a case of domestic abuse or because he was overpowering her, then no I don't agree with that. But even in domestic abuse, if she's gonna crack your head open with a pot or something, she's getting laid out first. But then you'd still get taken to jail probably and that's BS too.
That's one of the problems these days. So many women think they can do whatever they want to you because you can't touch them. Sure, legally you can't, but every now and then you see her getting served, and rightfully so. I don't agree with abuse of a female as a whole, but I also don't agree with them getting a free pass to do whatever they want and you can't do anything about it, and every now and then someone needs to be reminded why they shouldn't act like an ###.
I think this guy did the right thing.

I actually hit a girl once. It was junior year of high school, I was a party at a friends house. One of my friends on the football team had just broken up with his girlfriend, and the guy "sorta" looked like me- big build and same style hair, plus we had our letter jackets on, so from the back we could easily be mistaken for each other.
Well, the girl who he just broke it off with got crazy, she was drunk and probably high off her ###- so she went into the kitchen and grabbed a random chef knife (the big 9" blade chopping knife) and came running at me from behind in the backyard. Someone shouted something and turned just in time to see this girl holding a butchers knife all Jack the Ripper style charging at me.
I just reacted and tried to grab the knife but she swung it and cut my hand, I yelled at her and she was recoiling for another stab so I punched her..in the face..and knocked her out. She went down like a wet noodle in a pile. I dropped to the ground and made sure she was alright. She had a shiner and was dazed real good but she was okay. Everyone there said I acted the way they would have, and I did get my hand cut trying to defend myself initially.
Problem was a week or two later the story got twisty- obviously- and people started spreading that I hit her because I asked her out and she said no or something to that effect, so that sucked. But I'm with Eric (obviously), if your life is in danger- man or woman- I'm going to defend myself. Naturally, with a man, I would be more aggressive in my defense just because the likelihood of the attacker to get up and keep coming at me is more prevalent, but a threat is a threat.
