Yeah., I was thinking the aluminum pieces may accelerate the exit rate of the undercar flow stream, but I doubt they would do very much since they don't significantly decrease the area through which the air is exiting. The whole Asuv1Vsub1=Asub2Vsub2 thing...which basically says that if you decrease the area of the exit side of the diffuser, then the air needs to accelerate to a higer velocity so that the rules of fluid dynamics are followed.:huh:


No, this IS the new radiator. This is the one I got to replace the old one that still leaked, and it's leaking a bit even after being fixed. So my replacement for the replacement got here on the 18th but Zico didn't get a slip saying it was at the Post Office so he picked it up Saturday. I'm going to pressure test this one before I install it, even though they said they pressure tested it already. Trust but verify.

I'll take your word for it on the diffuser stuff lol. I don't know that my diffuser is that advanced lol.

Talking about my car? It is sitting a bit high. I'd like to drop the rear some more but the coilovers won't drop anymore than that.

Thats a good idea, I may need to do that where my diffuser keeps connecting with the pavement haha

Yeah it's good as long as it doesn't contact the ground ALL the time lol. Steel would be a better choice if that's the case lol.

I pressure tested the new new radiator last night and it was good, so I pulled the radiator out of the car and dropped them both off at the welder's today. I didn't take them to Tom because he suggested I just return it to RX7store because it was damaged when it got here. That's right, screwed over again! It's not too bad though, and it doesn't leak, so I decided to keep it. I mean, apparently it's the one radiator on earth that's not currently in use and doesn't leak, LOL. I liken it to a unicorn. The sides that were bent in I actually pulled back out to what it looks like in the pics. They were smashed all the way in when I first opened the box.

I widened the holes on the diff brace and removed the PPF studs so I could install the brace. It installed just fine, but now one of the studs won't go back in because I guess there was dirt in there and it started welding itself into the threads. So now I need to figure out what thread pitch it is (I think it's M14x1.5 but I'm not sure) and get a tap somewhere to tap the hole. This shit is getting old.

I also still need to install my hood pins. I guess maybe I'll do that tomorrow, and maybe the radiator too if it's finished.

At least you finally got a non-leaking radiator, but of course it had to arrive all bent up, WTF, and just in time for winter haha.

Yeah, it's fitting that it's all jacked up, because I obviously can't get a good, non-leaking radiator with no strings attached lol. Hopefully it will be ready today.

I thought about doing Aerocatch hood pins, but I don't like how they have such a large footprint, and because of that I can try conventional hood pins first and if I don't like them I can do Aerocatch, but I can't go the other way unless I get a new hood or fiberglass over the hole and start over.

Chris, you have a M14x1.5 tap?? That would be awesome! And no, it's not tapered. Do you have that size die as well? I have tap and die sets but they don't go that large and they probably wouldn't have that size anyway haha. I haven't had good luck lately with having the right size tap and/or die.

I bought a tap and die set from Harbor Freight that had the size I need and tapped the diff hole and installed the stud after cleaning it up with the die. I got the brace fully installed, but then it was hitting the exhaust, ARGH!!! I swapped to a thinner spacer for the brace and it made some room, and then I found an exhaust hanger that would actually push the exhaust down more so it wouldn't touch. So we'll see how that works out. Another cool thing about that tap and die set is it has the tap for the bolts I wanted to use to plug the extra injector ports on the LIM, so maybe I'll do that too next time it's off the car.

I also got the radiator back and installed it last night. I discovered today that one of my fans is seized and will only move by hand, so does anyone in the area have a set of stock FD fans? I'm trying to remove the fan blades and motor but it's being a real biatch.

No it doesn't. Thanks for telling me about that tap and die set too.

And I just had everything typed up and went to copy it and ended up hitting paste instead. FOIUHG{OIDSHGIO{HNE{OGUVIHSEBG{OIUHGO{IUEGHF!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I got the fans today, but I want to clean them up first so I may do that tomorrow after I get back from shooting. Would anyone be interested in meeting tomorrow night? It's been a while since I've been to one, but I'm guessing it's been a while since there's even BEEN a meet haha.

Oh, I did install my hood pins tonight, finally. I might be going to the Hooters car show on Saturday so I figured I better get them on before I get on the highway again.
