Hood Upgrade - Help?

Postby Swetty » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:14

So that hail storm we got last week thrashed my car. I basically drive a golf ball with all those divets in the hood and roof.

Good news is that insurance can take care of the damage... which means time to upgrade!!

I will be getting a new hood for my 08' Mazdaspeed 3, and was wanting to find something... with vents maybe? Perhaps carbon fiber, but honestly I'm just trying to find anything at this point. I don't want a hood with the scoop, because I don't have money/time to change up my intake system. Hoods in general, however are much harder to find than I had expected.

Suggestions? Sites? Brands? I need all the help I can get. Thanks guys!

Check StreetUnit. They seem to have a few including an OEM style CF hood. Welcome! pics of the speed please!

Don't know anything about the company, but seem to list both an oem style CF hood and a vented CF hood.

At least there are a few responses. To be honest, I haven't done much by way of performance mods other than CAI. Perhaps in the future, but for now just cosmetic ones. I know I know, Ricer. I'm working on it. Thanks for the tips. Keep them coming!Image

Looking good.

After my extensive searching, looks like Streetunit is your best bet: http://www.streetunit.com/Hoods_s/727.htm

+1 on the DG Motorsports vented hood. I'll probably be picking that up soon

Number2; love the hood and work you've done!

After months of waiting...finally time to replace that damn golfball hood. So the consensus seems CF.. I'm not sure. I was thinking a subtle two tone and getting rid of the "rally stickers'. Two tone, dark charcoal on top of the silver. Posts shortly to come.
I can't decide which I'll go with.

I'd probably go with the DG (though it isn't CF). I really like the looks of the Vis, but it seems like it will cause you a lot of work to make it flow in and around where the grille of your speed would go away.

You should get some of these too.
