Yes, that part is a head-scratcher, hehe. I didn't know he had an FD. I only knew about the LS7 GTO beast.

Nick had a red FD for a while, not very long though. I saw it at MAC when I was down there self-tuning my 8 on their dyno. Although I would never let them tune my car, they were nice (Nick especially) and I will probably return with my FD at some point to do self tuning.

I've been in contact with someone over at MSF that has made a name for himself by doing e-tunes for $$$. Nowhere near as expensive as MAC's flat rate of $450 for a Cobb tune.

You might also check with Apikol in Boulder. I know them from the euro scene, but they may do Mazda's too.

Slight change of plans. Looks like I'm going to be building a custom front mount intercooler before I install the downpipe. If I keep my current top mount I will lose about 5-10 psi of boost pressure.

So... I'm gonna build a custom one because the Mazdaspeed 6 intercooler "kits" cost around $1000 and from what I have seen other guys do on MazdaspeedForums.org I can build a similar kit using silicone couplers instead of custom bent tubing for ~$300 total.

Its gonna be a bitch, and its going to take me a while to finish, but I have the need for speed so I'll be updating here relatively soon.

Siliconeintakes.com is a Colorado company so shipping is pretty quick.

It's a Colorado Springs company. I just ordered a couple clamps there myself, gonna pick them up tomorrow morning. Do you need the stuff right away? If not I could pick them up and bring them with me the next time I come up there. Save you some shipping.

You mean me specifically or everyone? The tax really isn't that bad though. I think it's only been a few bucks on an order close to $70.

Update

Fuel pump Internals should be on hand next week. I have been looking into installing it around Saturday 4/13 and I just found out I am missing some key tools:

Workbench Vice

1/2" Drive Impact Gun:
18mm DW Socket (3" Deep)
17mm DW Socket (3" Deep)

Torx Bits (I will probably just go buy these):
T25 Bit
T30 Bit

Would anyone be willing to let me use these? If not I'll have to rent the Impact Gun and find a friend with a Workbench Vice.

If you are interested this is EXACTLY what I will have to do:

I have a work bench vise that isn't currently mounted you can borrow. No deep wells. Torx bits are good to have.

Everyone that buys from them that lives in Colorado. i.e if you ordered from New Mexico, you wouldn't have to pay the tax. But yeh, it's not much either way.

Don't forget the E8 reverse Torx socket to get the pump off in the first place. Ask Eric (OCD) what happens if you try to take it off with regular sockets.

Something about that piping...you can get different bends and diameters of aluminum piping from Siliconeintakes.com here in town, mock up what you need and cut and have them welded if you have to. That would probably still be cheaper than the premade kits, although it would be a lot of work. I personally am hesitant about using silicone for the whole piping. I had a 90 degree silicone elbow coming off my turbo a few years ago, and I watched it expand during a dyno run. Further off the turbo probably wouldn't be a problem, but I personally still prefer aluminum tubing or something else more solid-walled.

Roughly how much does this cost? I'd like to take my current piping to them, and have it redone cleaner. It's pretty much just two pipes.
