MS3 Halos

I was wondering if anyone has halo's on their MS3. If you do, did you do it yourself or did you have a shop do it?

Ha ha, I guess so. Halo headlights? I like them, but anything other than a Bimmer isn't right, imo. Similar to the LED strips on Audi's. Saw a Lexus with them and it just looked lame.

Yea, Halo Headlights. I actually like the way they look on the Gen 1 MS3. Since I have a GT and it would cost like $700 to replace a single housing if I screwed it up, I haven't tried to do it. If I had a sport I would have probably done it already....

There are some other car companies adopting the LED angel eyes. Just this morning I saw a Kia and a Hyundai with stock LED angel eyes. Audi can't be too happy about that....

I too have seen the Kia...major fail. (This coming from a Kia owner/Pro-Kia person).

I'd be curious to see some pics of a 1st Gen. with Halos...

Sorry, don't have any of the above. However, since I have a cracked fog light, I do intend on building new flog light housings down low with LEDs.

I think the Halos look pretty good on the Gen 1s as well. Will you be removing the orange reflector at the same time (think you need to). Chrome signal bulbs?

I don't think I will venture into this project (because of how expensive the HID housings are incase I mess something up). If I did, I'd remove the reflector and change the projector lense while I was in there.

yeah, it is a pretty big risk. Is the MS3 GT the only ones with HID? Wondering if they could be scavenged at a junkyard (don't see many wrecked 3s, let alon GTs though).

Most times people say it isn't hard, but I have read enough of people not getting a good reseal too. Taking the headlights apart isn't something I would be doing myself (even though I really like the ones with the removed reflectors and painted).

The MS3 GT and one of the N/A 3 hatchback trims have the HID housings... To tell you the truth, all of the hatchback housings are exactly the same, the only difference with the HID ones is that they have an internal leveling motor....

It really isn't that hard. Heck, I baked my headlights open so many times my wife started to wonder. And while I tend to lean towards letting the BMW's have the rings, I still like how mine turned out.





Just the DDE's on, no headlights.

Really cool to offer help Operator. I like the project idea.

Would you wire it so that the low beam angle eye was on while high beams were on, and high beam angel eye on while the low beams were on, then both on if the lights were off, or somehow else?

I've seen that one. I've heard it is easy but there's a lot of money in play.

I would keep the wiring simple. I would just wire them to a switch so either all of the halo's are on or all are off....

I've installed them 3x. Its a pain in the ###, gotta take off the bumper and remove the headlights and bake them in the oven to undo the factory bond. Looks good when finished though.

For the switch i removed teh lighter and put a simple on/off led light switch in its place.

Darn you all. I like the idea of two colors...natural light and red...those look great guys.

Might look for a wrecked three now for some headlights...
