No I was talking about putting the insulators between the brace and the bracket on each end, like in the pic. Because those are swivel type ends (I have no idea what the actual name is haha) the engine causes them to vibrate back and forth and clang against the mounting brackets. And mine adjusted, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't just a solid rod haha. I mean, at most it would have been TWO rods with the adjustment part between them.
When we installed my engine I just covered it with towels so I could lay the chains right on top. Do you have the hook itself coated too or just the manifolds?
My new car!

Simon's car is back on the road, but he'll be deployed for a year. We have another guy named Andy that just moved to the area before I left, his is running. Eliminster on here, Eduardo, a guy named Billy D in the Army but he never comes out haha, Boosted12A on here...I know I'm forgetting several. We have quite a few in the Springs again. I'm so excited haha.
Oh yeah, there is another guy on here that just moved to the area, he's on Peterson, Frank (I don't think you know him, he has an LS2), I think Morris is still around and he has a second one that he originally bought his son Corey. Oh and Corey bought another 7, an FC this time. I'm still forgetting some haha.
All of these are just in C Springs too. Then Dave and Matt are up North, along with several others I'm sure.

I really miss the area. I need to get my ### out of Idaho!
Im thinking about selling the subaru and picking up an Rx2 im aware of. Would need restored. But the issue is actually having somewhere to put everything. BUT its an Rx2!!! Dang it!

Haha, it happens.
I know of at least 3 running FD's up here, most of them aren't on the forums. Matt (Alpha) is on here but posts rarely. He has a '94 white FD that runs like a raped ape haha, perfectly boosting twins.
There is another guy (Josh? I think) who has a black FD that's pretty stock. He came to one of our Sonic meets accidentally (he rolled in with his FD but had no idea about the meet haha, so he hung out for a few). Cool guy, but he never joined up on the forums.
Matt saw another black FD up here (could have been the same guy?) at that Sonic as well, but I think he said it was modified. And I saw a stock looking red FD being driven by an older man with a black leather front bumper bra here in Loveland cruising around. Never got to talk to him, though. Last but not least there was a running '93 MB FD (my twin) in Greeley that was sold a guy here who rarely posts on the forum. He totaled the car last summer I believe so it's not actually running, but not due to the rotary haha.
And my little caveat would be I pulled my running engine to simply re-seal the oil pan and convert my twins to non-sequential, but now it has snowballed into the extended streetport, single turbo, massive project it is now. I have a problem, I know.
And Eric, I realized what joints you were talking about, but because those are helm joints and they articulate, I'm not sure how a rubber isolator would fit in them. And yes the engine hook is painted, but not wrinkle black, it will be the gloss black (same as our irons) since it's more durable.

That's funny Josh just happened to roll into Sonic haha. Do you have any contact info for him or the other guys up there? Maybe we can have a meet up there sometime. That's sucks the other one was totalled.
Hey, if you have a problem, so do I. We're all in this together HAHA.
I was talking about using a rubber washer from Lowes or ACE or somewhere. Just one that has a center hole big enough to slide the bolt through, to keep metal from contacting metal.

Matt came over so we could evacuate my A/C system and pull the bumper and get all the other crap out (stock rad, A/C condenser, etc). We started by using Matt's electric pump to pull a vacuum on a cylinder tank, then hooked it up an A/C manifold set and on the low pressure A/C hose. We pulled probably 80%+ of the refrigerant. I can also CONFIRM the Denso (factory A/C, not MANA system) system on the FD is AN fittings.
Next up was the bumper. Those three nuts behind the parking lights are a bitch!! Luckily Matt had experience in removing them and was able to get them out much easier than I would have been haha. Finally the bumper was free. Bad news here is I don't think I can use my fog lights with my v-mount...just won't clear. Oh well, not too concerned. I can now use the fog light switch in the interior for something else, too.
No, on to some bad news...we got the radiator out and then started on the A/C condenser. When I removed the fittings on the condenser some neon green foam leaked out. I thought nothing of it, it almost looked like tire slime. We removed the condenser and it's twisted like a mofo! I'll have to post some pictures.
Anyways, I thought more about that green shit and it clicked...it's A/C STOP LEAK, the shit they sell on those cans at Walmart, so instead of fixing your A/C system like you should, you just dump a can of stop leak in it which HARDENS WHEN IT CONTACTS AIR. Of course, since I just disassembled my A/C system, EVERYTHING just saw air, which means everything now has a nice, hardened layer of stop leak in it. I verified with a friend who does A/C work on cars for living and he confirmed it, I'm pretty much hosed.
So because of this, I think I am ditching the A/C system, for now. I removed the compressor, all the lines, etc, and put them in a safe place, just in case they can be salvaged. I'm pretty mad about it right now, but it's not the end of the world. Worse case I only need a new condenser, compressor, and drier. I planned on doing all new A/C hoses anyways so no big deal, but I guess I'm just bummed.
I'm going to pick up some AN female thread cap fittings to plug the A/C hoses going into the interior protect the fittings and the interior evaporator.

I hate when people take the easy way out with gooey fixes that is. Bummer that you have to remove all that. Put the windows down and go faster?

Haha, yeah, windows and drive faster, that's what the big single turbo is for right?!
Ian, I actually planned on keeping the A/C, I really want to have it (I even paid extra $$ for the condenser mounting brackets with my vmount kit), but it's not in the budget to go buying a new condenser, compressor, etc to overhaul it right now. I'd rather be driving the car at this point.
The good news is the Denso factory A/C system on the FD utilizes AN style fitting connections, so when I reinstall the A/C I'll do all braided AN hose and fittings. Gangsta!

That's a good questions, to be honest I'm not positive. A/C systems can typically reach 200psi on the pressure side. Braided SS AN hose and fittings are rated for 250-300psi, which would mean an A/C system could get to the edge of the operating limits of the hose and fittings.
