I have a quick question, I have been using the 91 AP maps because premium gas around here is mostly 91 octane. Has anyone had issues using the 93 maps on 91 gas? I know that at altitude 91 gas is pretty much the same as 93 at sea level but am not sure about using the 93 maps.
As far as I know, the only difference between the 91 and 93 maps is timing.
91 or 93 AP Maps?

Back when I used OTS maps I got some nasty knock trying to run a 93 map on the garbage 91 gas around here. If you want to run 93 maps and you have E85 nearby use three gallons of E-85 per fill up and you can run 93 maps without issue.

The OTS maps work well to modify. I am using a stage 2+ that I modified for my 3076r and it works just fine.

I run 93 maps and it runs great. I was running 91 maps, I didn't see any difference in any metrics on the AP. Granted I'm still stage 1+. I ran stage 2+ for a bit after I installed my testpipe, but went back because it would not hit boost targets and had slight knock retard without really gaining anything. Got new dp to install and I'll go back to stage 2.
I run the Cobb Stage2+SF 93 Octane map, and I'm well within KR spec, during the heat of Summer. I have a Test Pipe showing up tomorrow, so I can become more Stage2'esq, but I think my car runs pretty outstanding, as is. I think this TP will be the last piece before I finally bite the bullet and get a pro tune at some point. As much as I'd like to become savvy with ATR, it just isn't practical without a dyno. =/
But I digress... +1 to 93 Octane

I disagree. You can still pull power out of the car with ATR on a street tune. The only real issue you will run into on the street is that your timing COULD go past MBT if you are on E85. Besides tuning it yourself is free and when temps change you can retune it without having to get it redone or running into a dangerous situation with an out of season tune.

Would you agree with "... isn't as practical"..? Judges?
=)
EDIT: By the way, I'm not familar with the acronym "MBT". What does that mean?

MBT = Maximum Brake Torque. Its the point past which an increase in timing advance nets less power as one compression front hits another. At least thats how I understand it. Basically you pass that point and your power goes down. When you are running methanol or E85 on these direct injected engines its actually posible to pas this point without knocking. I set my timing to hit 15 degrees by 6500 rpms based off of data from another guy who tuned his car on a dyno and stopped making power past 16 degrees advance on the same turbo. The car rips with 15 degrees timing, 12.3 A/F and 25 psi boost. Never see any knock. Even on my street tune I wouldn't be suprised to see this car trap 114 mph if I pushed the turbo to its max.
Nothing wrong with a street tune.
