Thanks Jamie, I will measure the bolt in a few...it had a 10mm head so it's rather small.

I found a local machine shop here that can hot tank my irons and "jet tank" my aluminum housings so I'm pumped for that.

I'm 99% I'm going to attempt my own porting. Mazdatrix sells a how-to porting DVD I'll snag. To boost confidence I lined up the gaskets on the LIM and UIM and and port-matched them. Just finished the LIM-to-engine surface and I feel pretty good about the results. Will post pictures later.

So as long as I don't do anything stupid or crazy I should be good to go on doing my own porting. I think I'm going with the Pineapple Racing porting templates. I might get creative and extend the intake port timing a bit on the lower/entry edge to gain a little more overlap timing, but we'll see. That's also the danger area for puncturing into the water jacket.

You got a lot of nerves my friend. I was thinking about buying some busted irons to practice.

Porting actually isn't that bad. As long as you take your time and don't get to impatient, AND as long as you know what you're doing, which I believe Dave does haha. You'll be fine Dave. Can't wait to see the results!

Just remember the more extreme the port the more it lopes at idle.

I miss my loping HAHA, turns out it was actually just the engine drowning in fuel from the oversized primaries LOL.

well that makes it more pronounced too but if you go big enough with a street port it comes out also.

That's what I mean. I thought it was because of the size of the port, then come to find out it was only because of my primaries being too big to tune out enough fuel :(. LOL

Exactly, which is the sound I want, which is why I mentioned extending the intake power lower than the standard Pineapple template which will create more overlap.

It's overlap that gives you the BRAP BRAP
