Dining with Tut
Just got done with dinner at the Rib Crib in Tulsa. Since it is a rib joint I felt obligated to get their Original Dry-Rubbed Championship Ribs, St. Louis style. The ribs were pretty good, though a little dry. But every table has bottles of their house hot and mild BBQ sauce as well as a bottle of Bold Carolina Mustard sauce. I'm not really a fan of spicy sauces so I had a bit of the Carolina mustard as well as a lot of the mild sauce. With the sauce, the ribs were great, although a pain to eat as are any ribs, which is why I don't usually get them, heh.
I had some Sweet & Smoky Beans and mashed potatoes and gravy for my two sides. The potatoes were only about two spoonfuls but they did give you a lot of beans. The beans were very good as were the potatoes.
My wife got the Smoky Chicken Griller sandwich which is chicken and bacon with caramelized onions and barbecue ranch sauce on Texas toast. I took a bite and it was really good as well. She got fries for a side which were thin and crispy and delicious.
We also had an appetizer of "Shrooms & Sticks", which is fried mushrooms and fried cheese with marinara and ranch for dipping. It also comes on a bed of fries, which, as mentioned before, were delicious. I really liked the fried mushrooms and cheese. Crispy on the outside, gooey and melty on the inside. Terrible for you, but oh so tasty. Our only complaint about the appetizer was the marinara was in a pre-packaged container and wasn't very good, but we generally prefer ranch for that kind of stuff anyway.
Our server was also very good. Very attentive when we needed refills and very friendly.
Overall I definitely would recommend this place if you happen to be in an area that has one. It's a small chain and not in very many areas, but it's worth a shot if you find one.

Tried my hand at Greek food, here: http://www.atheniangreekrestaurantco.com/
Started off with a salad. Good dressing, I liked it.
Ordered the Grecian Delight, which consisted of Dolmades (sp?): rice wrapped in grape leaves...two forms of pastry dough-- one filled with spinach and feta? and one filled with just cheese (of some sort)...and freshly made pita bread with meat for making gyros.
The Dolmades were a bit much for my pallet. Very olive oily and rich taste-- as if I was eating a tabacco leaf or something. I'm sure others may love the flavor; just wasn't for me.
The pastries were good, but probably loaded with fat.
The gyros were the best part. Very good. The tszatziki (sp) sauce was great! I dipped everything in it, mmmm. Pita was very tasty as well, making the gyros the hit of the party.
Finished up with baklava (sp). It was decent. As expected.
Overall, I'd go back and order the Gyro Plate.

Excellent Question. Well, their tszatziki (again, sp) was much better than Saj's. I'm not sure Saj offers the traditional Gyro meat. Saj's pita bread (that I have) is whole wheat, this place was white bread -- quite delicious and fresh, but an unfair battle.
I'd really like to go back for a strictly Gyro lunch.
Saj will always hold a special place in my heart. One, that quite frankly, no other establishment could take away.

Dickie's bbq.
Granted, its not necessarily a unique entity- but I gave it a go. First impression: a bit pricey. That said, smoking meat takes time and I'll pay a bit more for it. Food was pretty good. Had the beef brisket, chicken, bbq beans, and green beans. Next time I'll opt for the Jalapeno beans, though the bbq are good too. A bit too much liquid; would prefer more beans.
My only gripe is that I doubt I received the 1LB. of meat I ordered. Looked more like .65LB. to me. Also, they don't fill up the containers holding your sides to the top.
The food was good, but I walked away feeling a bit used.
