Thought about leaving...still here though.

Postby movovr » Tue Aug 23, 2011 9:14

So some of you know I've decided to keep my speed3 (tbot, OCD, maybe Andrew). I was going to sell it and upgrade but with new baby girl (born Aug 5th; my birthday) it made the most sense to buy a new family car (2011 Sienna) now that we have 3 kids.

So, I then went through some logic that didn't pan out. I was going to sell the speed as I own it outright and use 1/2 the funds for a daily driver and the other half to payoff the small residual loan I have on the Toyota.

So back in May, I bought a 2002 GTI 24v, 6spd VR6 to use as my DD. Cleaned it up, pretty fun car to drive and all but just not the same as the 3. I then took the speed off the road and put it in the garage.

Well, the speed never sold and I didn't want to give it away to the low ballers out there. I decided I needed to sell one of the two cars so I relisted the VW I owned for only 3 months on CL. Whichever sold first, I would keep the other. I sold the VW in 4 days, and made about $1000

So now that I'm definitely keeping the car that I've loved (and at times hated) I had to (of course) start putting some basic mods back on it:

COBB AccessPORT
COBB SRI
COBB TIP
CORKSPORT TP (in the mail)
18x8 RX-8 wheels PC'd dark bronze
235/40 Hankook Ventus v12 EVO tires

I just got the AP yesterday and need to install/do some logs before I flash any maps to it. I'm new to AP's (had cp-e Standback on before) so I may be asking for some help if anyone is available?

Just got done reading Abilor's Tuning Guide (highly recommend) and received ATR from COBB this morning. Plan to calibrate my MAF in the next few days and go from there. Not looking to make crazy power. After doing it once, I think it's pointless to go crazy with mods on a FWD car anyway. Plus, I don't want to risk any zoom zoom BOOM we have all heard of.

Just looking for a nice little bump to make the car even more enjoyable to drive.

Looking forward to meeting up again as time allows. Although, having a 2 week old baby is consuming most of it right now!

Happy Motoring

Nope, not me. Here's a fun pic of our new baby girl taken by a photographer friend of ours

My thoughts exactly. It's actually quite nice to drive and fits a ton of crap in it. It's an 8 passenger XLE. Feels like I'm driving and sitting on my couch.

Once that 3rd kid comes around you almost don't have a choice. :\ You could go with a big SUV with the 3rd seat but minivans are so much easier to get in and out of, and generally get better gas mileage.

We drove back to NY this summer and averaged about 23 hwy. Not great but pretty good considering the size of it.
