Sell, Trade, Value?

Postby roninspeed3 » Thu Jun 09, 2011 9:14

Wondering what a trade or private party sale might yield based on anyone's experience. The car is a 2008.5 MS3 Mica Gray, 32K miles. I have seen some data from other members who have sold their cars so thought I would inquire here first... Any help is appreciated... Minor dings etc but nothing major...

Trade, I'd guess $16,000 max. And they will lowball you too with something ridiculous like 12k to start. I got $17,500 after an hour of haggling out of my 2009 GT with 21k miles.

Is it a GT?

$16k max sounds right for trade-in,
I bought my 07/GT/32k for $16.5k last august private party.
If yours is GT I think you could get $17k private party,

The time of the year that you sell also has a lot to do with it, A lot of them get snatched up around tax-time, then a lot of people put theirs up for sale around fall/beginning of winter...

Still trying to figure out if 1st gen's will eventually go up in value as less are available and gen2 is so-gen2.

I had an 07 GT that i traded in at a hyundai dealer... they started out with 9k...i laughed...they asked me what was wrong...i explained it to them so they came back with 11k...i got them up to 13.5k with a bit off the sticker of what i was trading in for. Make sure you fight for what you want. Take a look at Kelly blue book (KBB.com) and NADA before you go and bring that info in with you if your trading it in.

If you stay strickly private party...decide how much your willing to let it go for and add 2k or so for 'bargining' room.
