You got it...
There are three rubber barbs to retain the dipstick, then a wider, flat area that rests atop the dipstick tube.
Measuring from this flat part, the F is 9.125 inches, the top of the hash marks is 9.25 inches, bottom of hash marks is 9.75 inches and L is 10 inches.
Overall length from flat grommet area to end of dipstick is 10.7 inches (not quite 10.75, but close enough to 10 11/16 as to not matter).

I will look and see if there is any difference between the GSL-SE and 12A dipsticks.

I have a 12A dipstick in my streetport motor you can look at if you want. It should match yours exactly.

Well, large shout-out to Chris for being #*&$ing amazing. I'm glad I came around here to the club, because having some know-how is ridiculously useful.

Also a hello to Victor, who I ran into getting coffee on the way to Chris' house.

I bought a set of tires and got a pretty thorough diagnostics, some timing work, and tie rod replacement help on top of it.

So, for the thorough update: The timing was completely hosed - off by a tooth and then some more tweaking on top of that. Also turns out the previous owner had tightened the accelerator cable, got it running all weird, and then decided to compensate for THAT problem by screwing with the idle mixture/limit. There are a lot of little things that need worked under that hood, but thankfully nothing too troublesome. The car idles 800x better now, and it feels like there's more to the acceleration. It's just smoother. On my daily red line, it just felt much more like my old RX-7 - could barely tell I was up at high RPMs. Between the new tires and the alignment, the driving experience just got exponentially better. The temperature hangs right around the halfway point - just enough marginal improvement to make me more comfortable using it as a daily driver while I piece it back together.

List left to do:
Oil pan gasket
Thermostat
Oil cooler o-rings
Metering pump rebuild kit
Radiator/coolant hoses
Coolant flush
Buy Chris a round at the next meetup.

At the Goodyear, after I got my alignment done, the guy told me that the camber was off - 0.0 on the passenger, .5 negative on the driver is how I think I read it. He stated the solution (of course the one the computer told him) was to drop the struts and rotate them. Wanted $40 worth of labor a strut.

I told him to not bother as I will be getting new struts within the next month or so. Especially when the struts I'm getting will be only $10 more than he wanted to fix the old broke ones. Toe was fixed appropriately.

Not a problem. Glad everthing is working out for you. Rotating the struts is easy on these cars. We could have done it when we had the car on jack stands, lol.

Chris, are any of the hoses here the ones I need - http://mazdatrix.com/bhose1b.htm ? It looks like the really jacked oil-soaked one is the heater tube, but I want to double check.

Also, thermostat is on order. Here's hoping it's just that simple.

I would get them at OnlineMazdaParts.com the price will be better. I completely forgot to tell you this earlier.

Yes it was. He ran into me in the parking lot and pointed me in the direction of this site, only for me to tell him that I was on the way to Chris'...lol. He was getting donuts and coffee like me.

So today I got down to business. I rebuilt the OMP today. Damn, that was a pain and a half even after the extensive time untucking it from its oil blanket. I ended up having to remove the radiator fan, remove the belt from the air pump and adjust that to have enough room to get my tools in to remove it. I never want to do that again, heh.

I also replaced the thermostat and did a full radiator system flush. For first appearances on the drive back, the cooling issue has been resolved. It stays exactly where it should now. All air has been burped from the system and it runs beautifully.

I could NOT replace the o rings on the oil cooler - I didn't have the tools necessary, or the ability to wrap my brain around removing the oil line bolt. This will need to be done at some point once I can figure out what the hell to do.

This also means I couldn't rightly replace those water lines you had me get, Chris. I want to wait until the leak is fixed before I do that.

I did replace the spark plugs. One of them was ash white...damn timing fail on the previous owner musta hosed them something fierce.

Just finished removing the oil cake that was all over my arms. Can't believe that OMP got that bad. Stay tuned...
