New engine
Yea I would have to agree rather than spend 7k on that car you'd be much better off getting a different car for 7k.

Yeah. Before the new engine it's worth maybe a little more than half of that, and not worth much more than 7k with a new engine. Seems like the logical choice to me too

May I just go right ahead and say I refuse to get a Hyundai or Kia. And just about any Honda or Toyota. I'd much rather get another Mazda before any of those.
I still really want an Acura 3.2 CL. I wanted to get my dad's as my first car when he had one back when I was in 4th grade or so. I loved that car. It's so amazing. I want one badly.

Since you're not the one paying for it, I'd just take what you get and be happy you have a car at all, lol.

I would take a new Sonata over any honda or toyota. Acura is honda, so not sure why the cl love. The new Genesis is pretty bad *** too, but not cheap. for a cheap car while you have no money you might look at VW as well, some deals to be had out there right now. A TDI Jetta will get literally 50mpg and is pretty fun around town.

TDI Jettas keep their value bigtime. Ones with 130k miles are still like 13k. You save money on gas, but you pay a big upfront premium to get the better gas mileage, just like a hybrid.

I know I'm not paying for it, and I am truly happy that I'm getting the car fixed or getting a new car rather than having my parents say tough luck. But I do want to explore all possible options, meaning I would rather have them spend $7k on a CL as opposed to like $9k on a civic.

I don't have any issues with the new Sonata. It's the Elantra that I hate more than anything. My mom has one and I can't stand the thing. Uncomfortable, slow, and boring. But I won't be getting a new new car. I would get something used. And I know that Acura is Honda, but I find Civics and Accords and the such to be so generic and boring common. At least you don't see like 5 bagillion mazda6's everyday. At least, I never see nearly as many 6's as I do Civics.

I dunno. I see just as many Mazda6s as Civics. They are everywhere. I can't pull up to a stoplight without there being at least one Mazda6 around.
Also a 3.2CL is going to be $8500 and up looks like. And that's with close to 100k miles, and parts will be more expensive on it once it starts breaking than a Mazda6.
