PASSED EMISSIONS ohhhh yeah!!! I honestly can't believe it! The FD passed with nearly flying colors too! I am still shocked! Only thing I did was put in the factory ECU, bypass the boost controllers, reinstalled the factory cat, hooked up the air pump and fitting, and drove the car on the highway for about 30 miles before going to get tested. I also put about 12 gallons of premium in the tank with no premix.

It was pretty funny when I pulled into the emissions station. I popped the hood and went into the waiting room. No less than 4 inspectors were soon looking under my hood with flashlights in hand. Presumably they were looking for emissions equipment, but they might as well be looking at a spaceship. I saw one guy presumably successfully identify the air pump, and another pointed at the water injection nozzle haha. So after all that, I'm super stoked I passed and kinda still can't believe it.

And Eric, they have those vans up here. They are called Rapid Screen vans. They are only there to pass you, not fail you. If you drive pass and you fail the test, nothing happens, you just have to go to emissions testing when you tags are due. But if you drive pass a van and pass the test (2 times in a 10 month window the year before your registration is due) then you don't have to test when your tags are due.

Thanks Ian!

Car is already back into "fast mode" with the resonated midpipe, PowerFC, and boost controllers hooked back up. Resonated midpipe fitted better the second time putting it in once I learned the tricks to lining it up for a leak free seal.

I also pulled a brace than spans the exhaust/driveshaft tunnel as it was coated in oil from the leaking pan. It was filthy with dirt and oil all over it and since I had to take it off anyways, I decided to clean it up. Just sprayed it with some brake cleaner and holy shit, the dirt literally JUMPED off it! Just a few quick sprays front and back and a wipe down with a rag and it was clean.

I know others are probably aware of this already, but use brake cleaner to get grim and oil off any metal part on the car for sure! Makes clean up 100x easier. Just make sure to use it in a well ventilated area!

Wow. Ian told me you passed but I never thought it would be possible, and especially with flying colors LOL. I'm still in disbelief haha. That's awesome though. And it's always funny seeing non-rotary owners looking at a rotary.

Oh I see, I thought the vans were there to fail you too. That's awesome then.

^Thanks Eric!

Just little updates- car is running better than ever. Drove it to work this morning and it cold started perfectly and just runs great. I'm real happy with it right now. Still working to dial in the boost controllers to get that 13-13 boost pattern I'm looking for. 13psi will be the most I want to run on the stock fuel system.

Still the real only issue with the car is the smoking secondary. I think I'll take a chance on a set of used twins and see if they work any better and swap them this late summer/fall when I pull the motor to reseal the pan and clean everything up.

Not much to update other than the car is running great! Also, 13psi = about 98% injector duty cycle so I won't be running more than 12psi until I get my new secondaries in.

Lastly, I've had it with the leaking oil pan so I'm going to pull the motor this late summer (August or September) to do some serious cleaning. Thus far the plan is:

-Pull motor, fully degrease the engine bay, remove power steering, de-power the rack
-Reseal brand new OEM pan and Banzai pan brace
-Drop in 1300cc secondary injectors and twin in-tank Denso Supra fuel pumps (already have them)
-With the motor out, strip to the keg and clean it, convert to simplified sequential twins, delete most emissions (AWS, EGR, etc), install Pineapple Racing air pump delete idler, RE-Speed aluminum oil filler neck with -10AN fitting and JEG catch can with Push-Loc hose, etc
-New Bonez Street/Strip clutch, possibly a lightweight flywheel
-Delete the thermal pellet in the eccentric shaft and hopefully I don't **** up my end play
-New Banzai polyurethane motor mounts, Rotary Performance rear diff mounts, Banzai diff brace, eBay engine torque brace. Motor should be locked down!
-Dual Setrab oil coolers with Push-Loc hoses, possibly new radiator...
-Inspect twins and swap them for used set, cross fingers they don't burn oil...

That should make me happy until I do a full bushing job in the winter (or around that time frame) and new coilovers.

There aren't really any rotary specialist in Colorado with shops. We have some pretty knowledgeable people on this board that can help you out though. Just post up your problems!

Kind of unexpectedly bought a new exhaust for the FD. It should be here on Wednesday and I'm pretty excited. It's a super rare discontinued JDM exhaust system so I'm keeping it a little hush hush until it gets here ;) But don't worry, pictures and a sound clip will be up once I get it.

Also eye balling new wheels, but I think it will wait until this summer or fall, after I've pulled motor to reseal the pan and so some other minor work. And, if you know me at all, they're staying top secret as well haha!

Now I just have to sell off my Blitz NUR Spec catback...

How rich do you think I am???!!! Haha I wish!! I've never even seen one of those before, they are pretty rare.

This isn't an exotic titanium system (I wish) but it is pretty rare and aggressive. Eric's never even heard of it haha
