No I don't have an alignment rack, but we can get it close. In some vehicles (like the Miata) you can swap struts without disturbing the align. My question was simply to make an appointment (if needed) for an alignment at a nearby shop in the afternoon.

hey ecam, just wondering do you have any "tool" to put tranny fluid in easier. I have had tranny fluid for awhile but my car is too low for me to somehow use a funnel and hose. I have seen how some use an air compressor to pump the fluid in. Or if you have another method that would be great.

I usually use a hand pump to install tranny fluid. Just one of the cheap ones from the parts store.

You need an alignment after putting springs on. It involves removing the front shocks completely to throw the springs over those and then (mine at least) hammering a bit to get the rear springs to come out.

I have swapped the shocks/springs on my Miata a couple times now and I needed an alignment every time afterward. Then again I couldn't get the Long Bolt method to work so I had to do the San Diego method which totally messes up your front alignment. The rear might be ok after a swap but I just get a 4-wheel alignment to be sure.

How have a manual right? Just take out the shifter and pour it in through the hole. This is how I do it on my FD and my old 8 (after drained, of course)

That doesn't work on the FB and I don't think it works on the FC either. The shifter is mounted back behind the tail shaft on both the FB and FC.

Yea the shifter hole has its own fluid separate from the rest of the tranny on the Miata too. Can't you just raise the car up in the air to get underneath it? I usually run a funnel and hose through the engine bay and have someone pour fluid slowly into the funnel while I make sure the hose stays put in the tranny underneath the car.

Have you done this on the FD already? Because I'd tried it before and it didn't work, I had to put it in from the side. But I remember you said before that you did this. When I look in there it doesn't look like it goes all the way through to the gearbox itself.

If you are talking standard (fossil) gear oil, then yes I have that ready to go. I built one out of a 5 gallon air tank. It uses stored compressed air (20psi) to push the oil in when the hand valve is opened. If you need synthetic gear oil, then I could build another and have it ready when you come.

I was able to get the "long bolt" loose. However, the change in height = align.

I'll have to look at this, I'd like to build one.

It was in a 4x4 magazine years ago. Used a portable air tank, like you would take to an autocross. Weld in a fill cap (Pipe nipple and cap) then install a dip tube that runs to the bottom of the can that has an external valve (1/4 pipe) and a barb fitting. I used a clear tube from one of the hand pumps. the stock gauge and fill schrader valve are used. Takes a couple hours to build, but it sure beats hand pumping thick gear oil. I would be happy to build these for any one who wants them. They hold about 2-3 gallons.
