If I were to go on location alone then I would hit up MAC since they are like 15 minutes away from me. The springs is an hour away, but if the tune went well then it would be one hell of a fun drive home.

Well, I had to cancel my order for the standback thanks to all of he delays in their production schedule. Sounds like an okay thing though. There are rumors floating around about another company comming out with a tuner that will control the throttle plate and the supposedly will fix fuel cut alltogether.

Well, Cobb also said they would be releasing an AP for the Speed6 13 months ago.... then they said they were putting the Speed6 on the back-burner, and would be releasing the AP for the RX-8 & Speed3 before they started working on one for the Speed6.... If you plan on waiting a LOOOOONG time, and own a Speed6, go with Cobb :)

Out of curiosity, who's the other PnP tuner company? Or at least what type of device?

Well, that's more than I knew about the new tuner. All I have heard is rumors on 6club about it. I am assuming that it is not Cobb, since they have basically told the speed6 community to f*** off, which really sucks since the speed3 and the speed6 are so similar that it wouldn't take much to make the acessport work for the speed6 guys. But, thanks to al of the delays in the CPE unit and the extra expenses that go with this time of year, I'll have at least another month or two to listen to the rumors and see if it is worthwhile for me to wait.

Especially since I'm not hanging on the proverbial STI nutsack................ :D J/K

Yeah, part of the reason why Cobb was originally going to make an AP for the Speed6 was they thought it had the same ECU as the Speed3 before it (the Speed3) was released.... once they found out they were 2 entirely different ECU's that when Cobb pretty much started ignoring the Speed6 community, as it would no longer help them with development of the Speed3's AP.

Why are the ECU's different? FWD vs AWD? It's the same motor and transmission (aside from the extra driveshaft for the AWD) is it not?

You hit the nail on the head. FWD vs AWD is one of them. The Speed6 has a different/extra connector (4 connectors vs 5) going to the AWD control module. On top of that, the Speed 3's ECU has a couple additional features like it's torque management system, limiting torque/power in the first 2 gears. They also have entirely different pinouts even if you looked past the AWD control module connector. Different ECU's altogether.

Just for a Cobb update, for any Mazdaspeed 6 guys, take a look at this thread over here:
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=87616

^^^Apparently, a couple guys over there actually talked to the guys from Cobb at SEMA, specifically about the MS6 (not MS3). Disappointing, but that's about what I figured.

So the Speed6 is a dead platform....wow! Talk about a jagged pill. Let's hope CP-E doesn't abandon us also...

I don't think Cpe has any plans of abandoning us, and there are still rumors floating around 6club regarding another tuner that should be available soon, maybe by summer.
