Score one for me! Got a refund! He let me keep the Datalogit since it's working and he's refunding me the money for the PFC and Commander. Half now, then the other half when he gets out. I am impressed, to say the least!

Now I can buy a NEW one! Never buying a used PFC EVAR AGAIN!!!! Mark my words, I'll neve....wait, I just saw one for sale on 7club for a steal!!! Going to buy it now!!!

Just kidding...but I do get distracted by deals LOL. It's my pitfall, for sure.

Anyways, here is Matt's contraction we used to test the PFC, which led to us figuring out the front primary injector driver was burned out, I lovingly call it "Frankenstein":

That harness is amazing. o_O Is it just switches and LEDs on each ECU line? Either way, sounds like it helped track down a really nasty flaw.

Matt (Alpha here) designed and built it using an AEM Patch harness. It has status LEDs for each ECU function, and since they are feedback based, we can view what the ECU is doing in real time.

There are LEDs for all 4 injectors, and you can actually see them pulsing like an injector firing...pretty cool! it also has a diagnostic plug on it sow no Matt should hopefully be able to datalog off the factory ECU, something that was previously thought of as impossible!

The impossible is now possible!

At 1:47pm this afternoon, I was able to get multiple readings from my stock ECU into a PC using schematics/software posted on the rx7club site by an engineer in New Zealand known only as "Enervation"! Hooray!!

Now, about that cold-fusion thing...

Don't worry about cold fusion, I already completed my research and testing 2 weeks ago. Duh.

Man that is cool. Maybe we can use it to figure out if Zico's PFC is messed up LOL.

couldnt you just plug in zico's pfc in your car to see if it atleast runs? or it just doesnt work like the fc ecu does?

What's wrong with his PFC? It could be tune related, and more than likely is. Not sure on what his fueling setup is, but you could load a stock like tune and see if that works

Here's the video of Dave's FD going into overboost protection on Frankenstein. You can actually go frame by frame to see that it shuts off fuel to the rear rotor (last 2 led's on the right), then turns them back on just before Dave takes his foot off the gas.

Well, his PFC is my old PFC, which doesn't work on my car and is the reason we traded before Frank tuned it LOL. It works on his but not mine, well, it USED to work on his. Best case I could plug mine in on his but I don't want his issues infecting my PFC LOL. Ooooh COOTIES! LOL

I should have said we are fairly certain something is wrong with it, I can guarantee you it's not the tune because it ran before. Last summer we started on a cruise and when he took a turn his wheel made contact with the harness over the tire and forced it into the fender. His car immediately shut off and hasn't run since. I should have said we want to see what exactly is wrong. We have talked about sending it back to A'PEXi to get repaired but it takes a long time and it costs money and we'd like to know what's wrong with it first. After we got his car home, he took the fender off and the tire had eaten into the wiring and grounded some stuff. He has since fixed the wiring but it is still down due to the computer.

Eric, that sounds like a major headache of a wiring problem right now, I wouldn't point the finger at the PFC just yet. If it's possible, try throwing an OEM ECU in there and see if it will run at all.

It's pretty unlikely that would fry anything in the PFC, the ECU mostly just pulls things to ground, and doesn't handle much serious voltage. Of course, I got the two bad PFC's out there haha. Are any sensors highlighted in reverse in the sensor check menu?

He's already fixed the wiring. He put the stock ECU in and it will run but it's not really tuned for his single turbo and all obviously so it didn't run perfectly but it ran, I don't remember what kind of map he had on the PFC though. It was never really tuned for his setup but I don't remember what it had for sure. I don't know if he's checked the sensor check menu.
