and u must have missed me saying a mass text doesn't cut it, have multiple ppl text ppl to show interest, make it personable.
I don't know how else to say that this wasn't a VW meet rather a meet that has multiple makes. If you're reading too much into it that's your issue. And seriously, I spent money on all those text messages and Its still not "Good enough"??? Wow. If this is what Mazda people want then do it yourself. No one is stopping you from creating your own meets. Or are you not jumping on it because you know that it will fail.

I did stop hanging out with them because of their shitty attitude. Why would I want to go to a meet where people talk shit on my car and then on the cruise drive 100mph, unsafely, on the shoulder, driving like vin diesel..... I could go on. Those aren't the kind of car "enthusiasts" I want to be around, so I choose not to. People here can choose to go to whatever meets they want, if that's your scene that's fine, I just know our club used to be a little more about "respect" (if that makes sense). We had rules as far as safe driving on cruises, doing half our meets with another club, because it's convenient or whatever, is changing things for the worse IMO.

This is where I'll draw the line. I understand your point Bre but please don't go around acting like none of us appreciated anything you did. I've said this before and I'll say it again. I HAVE A LIFE outside of this. I can't commit to everything that comes up for this stuff. If people can show up, fantastic but don't go bashing us because we can't commit every moment to the club.
As for the failure thing... I think the failure comes in the lack of cohesion on the forum caused by people who will renounce their involvement in it and them come back to begin more drama. Thank you for the invitation to the VW meet, but as was said before... this is a Mazda club. I'm glad you've found a niche with the VW people but not all of us are interested in joining that niche. Those that are will join you, but please don't be surprised when you get flack about it. You straight up left this forum for VW folks. Whatever your reasons were is your issue but you left and you come back intermittently to reiterate how horrible organization is and how much you did and such and it gets annoying. If you want to be part of this, then be part of it but otherwise renounce your mod status and let it go. It doesn't help any of us with this drama going on.

Meets, meets, and meets. If people quit talking about it and actually showed up somewhere...
I tried. I gave up. Lots of talk, no action. That said, I was brought back mainly as a technical (site) mod. Maybe I should change my title to reflect as such. Heck, I don't even have a Mazda anymore so I guess I shouldn't be here. Damn "open arms" Mazda club! Kick me to the curb, already!
There were many internal debates in the past as to whether or not, we're a "forum" or a "club". I don't see why it can't be both. I'm strongly against charging site members dues. We're small enough as it is, and fairly inactive. Do we want to completely destroy the site/club by charging people money? Heck, I wouldn't use the site if I had to pay for it. You want to feel like it's a club by paying dues, go ahead and donate.
The "Mazda Enthusiast" car culture in Colorado is small. Car culture in general is small. I'm all for small meets, there's nothing wrong with them. 5,6, 10 people (10 is pushing it) gathering at Old Chicago, Rock Bottom, etc is something I'd be interested in. Long ago, however, I learned that for me, meeting at Sonic and just hanging out in the parking lot was not my cup of tea. Others feel the same way and don't show up for that reason. I've had fun at Bandimere in the past, fun at the Golden Super Cruise, and at other various car events.
Does leadership need to "step up" and become club leaders? Maybe. But members can do that as well. I don't see meets only being set up by moderators on other sites. To think that little ol' ME setting up a meet would make more well attended by members is preposterous. Other than the RX8 meet that had a significant turnout, I've failed elsewhere. We were doing well attended monthly BWW meets, but those stopped when people migrated to Sonic. I've tried a few meets since then that had 1 or 2 (at the most) people attend. I figured people didn't WANT to get together, and then I read this thread.
If you WANT a non-Sonic, Mazda specific meet, get off your ***, start a thread and do something about it. By default, I can't go since I own a Volvo. ha.

I also appreciate all you've done for the club Bree, but you said it yourself, you stopped doing meets and events, so, we obviously need someone who is willing to do what the people in the club are asking to do. I understand that I as a member can plan meets also, but if the person who is in charge of this isnt doing anything (or just something every once in a while) thats just not good for the club in general.

The thing most people don't understand is this isn't a job, we don't get paid to be mods. We all have other lives and real jobs that take up as much time as people who aren't mods.

Obviously you dont get paid, I know that, but you did agree to be a moderator and take on certain responsibilities right? You really think most people assume this is your JOB? Its a volunteer position and if youre not doing what you volunteered to do it's obviously going to put a kink in this club.

Sadly, the days of the original CMZC meets are long in the past. It's only because the founding members have all phased out and are now living different lives. It's good to see some of those members still hanging out here, I still lurk from time to time, but I just simply don't have time for meets anymore. I can't plan them, I can't attend them. I passed that torch to Bree.
All Bree is trying to do here is encourage more Mazdas to show up and represent the club, like we used to. I remember we'd hang out at Sonic in Lakewood, or even Hamburger Stand (remember that, guys?? LOL) and we'd have more of our Mazdas there than there were any other cars. We were, and still are, very underestimated.
I remember the days we'd go on cruises and then go to Perkins afterwards. That doesn't seem to happen because at least 4 of those people aren't around anymore.
And like others have said, if you want to see those days come back, do something about it. Organize it. It's not the mods' jobs to do it. Their jobs are to moderate the forum and make sure hackers don't kill the site, and to make sure the servers are up to date and paid for. In other words, their job is to maintain the forums, not organize events.
I'm just rambling, I know. And I know I hardly ever post anything around here anymore. School, work, being mom, and life have just all consumed my "spare time." If I could do something, I would. If I could even come to a meet, I would. It's just not possible for me at this point in my life right now.
Just a little sidenote - Bree and Tbot - you guys need to hash things out elsewhere instead of on these threads. It's going to affect everyone, and there will be some sides taken. I hate seeing the two of you bashing like this when you two were part of the original peeps. I'm only stating this as a suggestion, or even as advice to my old friends.

It's not what you drive, it's how you drive it.

On most forum based clubs, meets aren't on the list of mod responsibilities. There are quite a few other things to do that don't include setting up meets. I have nothing against mods setting up meets. I do a meet in the springs just about every week. Just what is wrong with members also setting up meets?

There were better days as far as CMZC interest goes, but I don't think that's over. I just think we need to do our own thing, not piggyback on some other club. I do appreciate your work for the club bree, and in no way am trying to put you down, just my 2 cents on the situation.

Things are in the works to make this change, granted when it happens no one is going to expect it. I have had multiple people approach me about doing something, so I'm working on it. Those that have said something know about it, and I'm just going to leave it at that.
For those of you who are interested in a Mazda only get together of any kinda get ahold of me off the forums as its going to be different.

There is nothing wrong with members making their own meets, I just went to the mazda flag meet a few weeks ago and it was a great turnout. As far as that not being Brees responsibility, maybe not writing "I do meets and events" under your screen name would be a start. Especially after you say you "stopped planning things for this club" It makes no sense. If you dont have the time or energy to do it then let someone else do it.
