Do you install snow tires every year?

I run winter tires, along with my stock wheels (which I'd like to powder coat). I'll probably wait until the 1st snow fall before I change them out. No reason to waste tread life until they are needed. And this year I have all-seasons on instead of summers, so I should be ok to wait until after the first downfall. Side-note: I'm still miffed Discount Tire hosed me on my summer tire order!!!!!!

That is something I love about driving on the powder with good winter tires-- you can drift all over if you want, but it's within very controlled parameters, so you can also dial it back to full traction without breaking a sweat. A ton of fun if you're on a road (or parking lot) alone. *pulls handbrake, wheeeeeeeeee*

My Eagle GTs were VERY good on the snow, as all-seasons go, and I had quite a bit of drifting fun on them last winter. WEEEEEEE.

Not me. Closest I had were All Weather tires. When it's really snowing out and the main streets are not clear I take the Bronco out.

Yeah, I'll take the Jeep if there's more than about 6-7 inches on the ground, but this year, since my wife's CX-9 is gone and her car has crappy all-seasons, she'll probably want the Jeep on snowy days.

I have quite a bit of fun driving my wife's Impreza around in the snow with the stock all-seasons. Perfectly controlled if you're driving normally, but turn off the traction control and mash the gas around a turn and you can have some nice four-wheel drifts.

Yep. That's what I liked about the MS6 last year -- the controlled sliding I could do. It's almost impossible to make the Jeep slide if traction control is on. Amazing 4WD system. But turn that TC off, and DAMN...

id like to, i can barely get my car out of the parking lot during the heavy snowfalls. but the lsd and abs help out ALOT

most the time though i just hide from the snow because i don't like it in the first place. or ill get a ride with one of my buddies if i absolutely have to go somewhere

AWD only helps with accelerating in snow. How often have you been able to remove yourself from a dangerous situation in the snow by accelerating out of it? I'm sure there are some situations, but they are not that common. Stopping, or the lack of stopping, is what gets most people into trouble in the snow. When it comes to braking, all 4 wheeled cars are on the same ground there- the only difference that separates good stopping ability and poor stopping ability in snow is tires, not how many tires are being drive- because when you're on the brakes, no wheels are being driven.

This will be my 4th (and probably last) winter on my Hankook iPikes.

Blizzaks on a set of extra wheels, which get switched on and off as needed- typically several times each winter. Cordless impact + racing jack makes it a 20 minute process.

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 on 2006 5 Spoke MZ3 rims. They make the car (almost) as fun in the winter as it is in the summer on RX8 and RE01Rs. I find that snow tires give up too much performance and feel on dry pavement and that performance winters are the best alternative for Colorado weather and the kind of driving I do.

And it's always fun to put the beef back on in the spring and marvel at how tough the car looks for a few weeks.

It's for damn sure I wouldn't drive in Denver winter weather with summers on.

That's what I'm considering...PA2s. If timing works out, I should be looking at them tomorrow night in the DTC area...but timing doesn't look good so far.

The Arctic Claw Winter TXI M+5 tires I ran last year were quite impressive, then again I was coming off of summer tires, that were getting low on tread.

Advan RZs with Bridgestone Gforce in the summer and stock rims with fuzions in the winter.
