nice cruise, or, trips I would't want to make in a snowstorm

Not really sure where to post this, just curious where people drive or like to drive for fun.

This is what I did today in the mz3 sport, lots of high-elevation driving. Someone at a cafe nearby had mentioned I should check out some of the backcountry north of Silverthorne, so I drove back there and checked it out. Lots of single-lane highway with passing zones. I saw several mz3s, even a 2010 headed the opposite direction as me on I-70. A lot of cyclists and motorcycles out, a typical CO summer weekend...



This was probably the most memorable stretch. Steep grades, hairpin curves, passing zones.



What a blast, though traffic was moderate this weekend, didn't get stuck behind anyone excruciatingly slow for too long before the next passing zone.
I was having so much fun I kept on going, down to CO-470, just so I could drive up Deer Creek Canyon.. :] After this drive, stopped at the carwash, an epic number of insects meet their doom on my car's grille.

Looks like a fun drive. I want to hit Independence Pass one of these days for similar reasons.

That stretch through the Arapaho National Forest looks tits. I enjoy the drive from Loveland to Estes Park, which climbs to 8200ft and is just a breath-taking drive.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the drive Jamie, Lyssa and myself did a couple months ago to Risp (spelling? Not sure) Canyon to the west of Fort Collins.

I did the same drive yesterday, just up to winter park from Fort Collins. The weather was AMAZING, and I agree, not too much traffic. US-40 up through the divide and down to Winter Park is probably one of my favorite drives of all time.

Rist Canyon for ya chickenwafer, That was fun too, I only went up there a few days ago because Lyssa told me you were all going up there, so I wanted to see what it was all about.

Rist is amazing and so is empire to winter park via 40. I've done that multiple times to take my brother to xc camp and I always looked forward to it.

Rist Canyon looks like a pretty sweet drive. It looks a bit like some of the roads that follow creeks up from Denver to the foothills, like Bear Creek (CO-74) from Morrison west to Kittredge, seemingly sculpted out from stone by the running water. I like driving when conditions allow me to ignore the yellow 'suggested speed' signs before corners.
